Visit quickly because the gates will soon be closing for 18 months!

Airfield is a little oasis of tranquility, culture, interest and learning for people of all ages. It constantly offers workshops, art exhibitions, talks, guided tours of the working farm, musical evenings, etc. They also have really nice food and coffee in the main house. It has a brilliant reputation for supporting the arts and for promoting eco-friendly ways of working. However, this little gem will be closing its gates for major refurbishment at the end of Oct 2011. The good news is that it... Read more...

Airfield is a must !

I will never forget the first time I set foot on the beautiful grounds of Airfield Trust. It had been recommended to me by a friend, who although positive in her review, did not fully succeed in conveying its magic to me ! Even its misleading name contributed to the surprised delight my husband and I felt as we entered the unassuming gates. We felt we had just happened upon a mini Narnia in the city. It was April and the daisies were fully in bloom on the lovely lawn. Then (and I'm not joking)... Read more...

This is a really good place to go to. We have visited several times and each time we always find something new to look at. Airfield is set in really nice grounds. When we were there last the sun was shining and the place was busy with lots of children from a local school and another from Inchicore children school. Nice restaurant to have a bite in. The view is lovely and the air so fresh. They have lots to see and the small shop selling a miksture of books, candles and some plants is worth a... Read more...

This is a very nice little working farm. Its convenient being so close to dundrum shopping centre. The have the usual animals - pigs, goats, sheep, jersey cows, donkeys., chickens. The also have 2 ponds - one in particular is home to tadpoles, frogs & newts. Its very nice and relaxing and great to bring a picnic if its a fine day. The walled gardens are small but very beautiful. There is a big model of cow with udders that the kids can "milk" themselves -its only water - but its... Read more...

I have only visited this place twice and I thought the place was wonderful. They have a little shop to the front and they sell some really nice pretty items. A decent car park and a cute little donkey in the garden. It's a farm with lots of animals and you can walk around and enjoy everything that is there. There's a nice cafe in the old house where you can have freshly made food. There is a really nice walled flower garden. Another little gem to visit on a sunny day.... Read more...

This is a lovely little place to walk around. Its not too big so Grandparents might want to join! There is a lovely flower garden too. But best of all there was a pond with tadpoles !! (This was a kids favourite bit). The walk around is lovely and great for smaller kids who feel like they are on an adventure. There is a tea room there which was nice, but unfortunately didnt serve chips so my kids wernt happy... Over all a wonderful day out, pleanty of parking and if you have time you... Read more...

Country in the city

Airfield farm is an unexpected little piece of countryside right in the middle of Dundrum, and a great place to bring the kids for something a little different. My toddlers loved running about, seeing the chickens, pigs, cows and sheep (especially the newborn lambs). It's a beautiful place to wander around when the weather's nice, and feel the weight of the world lifting from your shoulders. There's a little coffee shop which does excellent coffee and cake. The cupcake shop on the way in... Read more...

Airfield is a hidden gem, I think most people living nearby don't even know it's there. The Overends Cafe serves quiches, salads, tarts (Avoca-style food) etc as well as delicious cakes in a beautiful old house. It's the perfect place for a girlie lunch. There is a really nice shop on site as well selling books, crafts, jewellery etc, and on the last Saturday of every month there is a craft market, so no excuse get down there and say hello to the animals while you are there!... Last year on Heritage Day there was free entry to Airfield House. We went along and enjoyed a number of free sessions including etching and printing. There was also a number of locally made short films on show in the outhouses. The garden was lit up with candles placed in coloured jars hanging from the trees. It was lovely. This year they are running courses on gardening, growing your own vegetables, keeping chickens and pigs etc http://www.airfield.ie/index.html... Read more...

This is a lovely working farm in Dundrum. It was owned by the Overend Family. Great place to bring children when the baby animals are running around. Pigs cans be a bit smelly but the chidren love it. The gardens are lovely in summer, and you can buy some plants. The coffee shop is nice if little expensive. I was there recently at their open day , was free and had a go at some of their crafts, great fun. There is a VIntage & Craft Market on Sat 27th Nov 11am-5pm I remember as a... Read more...
