Asha Smasha

When I was younger I used to be religious about going here. While it was expensive, sometimes I just went here to get inspired. Sadly, it is no longer the same. The layout is messy, the clothes have seriously downgrades and just seem cheap and the clothing range just seems more Hot Topic than Asha. Even the corsets, which are usually so sumptuous and beautiful, just seem poorly made. While there are cheaper badges, hats and hair dye, it is just not worth stepping in to the sad decor. In... I used to be a religious shopper in asha, i loved how they had alternative clothing for people who would be classed as "gothic", the shop had a great dark vintage look about it nd the staff were unbelievably friendly, but lately within the past two years, the shop has completely conformed like a sheep , the shop is so bright its blinding, and all the clothes are for emos and scene kids!!! the staff are completely rude and sit there reading magazines rather than helping the customers,... goth

This is a place for goth/emo style fashion etc, in fact it is a haven. They have good deals on band t-shirts, you can usually get one for 15euro. I loved this place, they have glass cases surrounding the checkout full of interesting paraphenalia and a very diverse and alternative range of clothes. The clothes naturally are all black, and they have a great selection of posters too. ... Read more...

Great Shop

Asha is a great shop for those of you on the goth, punk, rock or emo side of things. It has loads of choice for boys and girls alike. So many different band t-shirts to choose from, lots of nice skirts and dresses, and some really nice accessories like belts, bags, jewellery, and even New Rocks! Best place to go in Dublin if you're looking for somewhere selling this type of thing in my opinion. Staff are relatively friendly and the interior is really nice too. They also sell smoking paraphilia,... Read more...

A YOUTH SHOP

(03 February 2011)

l was here a few times with my niece who just loves it. This shop seems to be so popular and l was told it opened over thirty years ago whaich is a good testimony in itself. lt sells any type of band t-shirt you could wish for. They also sell a good range of hoodies and all types of accessories. l found the prices a tad expensive but it doesn't seem to deter the customers. The staff seemed lovely and friendly. lts nice to see a shop not effected by the recession.... Read more...

Same as ever

(11 January 2011)

I spent much of my Saturday afternoon in this shop as a teenager - I vividly remember buying a different colour hairdye every week for a fiver. It's still pretty much the same as ever although the clothes do seem to have gotten more expensive. I still pop in here from time to time to buy tshirts, they have decent quality ones and the fit is nice if you buy a smaller size. Most of the customers pride themselves on looking moody and angst-ridden but it brings back fond memories!... Read more...

Alternative Clothes

Report

Asha sells a lot of band t-shirts and goth clothes, it's definitely niche and it can be a bit expensive, about 60euro for a hoodie, but you're unlikely to find clothes that they sell in any other shops around Dublin so it's worth a look if goth/punk is your style. They also have a really good selection of lighters in the glass cases around the counter!... Read more...

this place is sooo different to any other shop in stephens green, its alternative, funky, gothic, perfect for stoners aswell lol. I used to always go in when i was younger and look at all the really cool gothic clothes but i could never pick up the courage to wear anything so I would just the jewellery and the really funky colourful nail polish and eye shadows, we used to get students and if they wanted me to show them town i would always bring them here.... Goth kids

When I was 12 and bangles were all the rage- this was the cheapest place in Dublin to get them- at like 10p a pop, my friends and I would pluck up the courage to wade in through the sea of goths and rockers to get our cheap sparkly bracelets and get out as fast as we could. When I was 14, the cool thing to do was dye your hair with a colour rinse for an "only visible in sunlight" effect; Asha was the only place I knew to get red or blue hair paste and I thus found myself feeling... Emos & Goths & Punks...oh my!

Asha has been around since 1976, Dublin's first alternative clothing store this is where I bought my first pair of fingerless black lace gloves back in the 80's to complete my Sisters of Mercy goth look. Having been at various locations over the years, it's now on the top floor of the Stephens Green shopping centre. Nowadays you'll be falling over emo kids and punkettes along with your avid stoners, just in to buy from the large selection of skins they sell. They've everything from official... Read more...
