The Baggot Inn

(15 October 2011)

Report

by: Dee D. 3 out of 5

I have gone into the Baggot Inn which is opposite Doheny & Nesbitt on a few occasions, during the day and during the evening at the weekends. You have to go down a few steps to a very interesting decor and cosy bar. Lunch time was busy and their food is good and should please most people's taste and pocket. Several TV screens to watch a match and the last time we tried to get in on a match day the place was so packed we went elsewhere, bit claustrophobic. Monday is a good night to go when... The tables are comfy and since the recession I have never had to wait for a table. the food is tasty, typical pub grab and the prices are reasonable for lunch time. I have also been here for after work drinks on a Thursday and Friday; again the usual after work drinks atmosphere. often busy but I couldnt imagine it being that busy on a Saturday night - perhaps I am wrong.... This is right beside where the old baggot Inn used to be, but you need to walk down a flight of stairs to enter it. This place really comes into its own when there are rugby matches on. If you have the forethought to ring ahead, you can book one of the tables with its own beer taps - you just need to leave a credit card behind the bar. Just make sure you set a limit or you can get a nasty shock at the end of the night! This place gets a nice mix of people in their mid 20s to mid 30s, it's... Read more...

Went here for an Early Bird just before christmas €10 for a main course and either a glass of wine or a pint of your choice!! Its excellent value, and the pub grub was really quite delicious. The chicken supreme was cooked perfectly, with nice mash and veg on the side. All in all, well worth a visit for a quick and cheap bite after work and you can always stay on and have a few pints as its a great lil place!... Read more...
