good coffee
(23 April 2011)
by: john m. 4 out of 5
I found myself wandering in here as the day was sunny and the place was packed outside - always a good sign. I had the cappucino which was just €2.30. It's a damn good coffee if not a little on the strong side, but who wants hot milk when you order a coffee?!Inside they have a nice selection of pastries/pies. It's definitely a great place to get coffee, the staff are very pleasant too.... Read more...

I like this restaurant they do good italian food and the prices are ok - not very expensive but not the cheapest either. the food is always fresh and tasty. they have a good wine menu and i always go for the house white. i like their salads too.l the place is comfortable but the seating is a little hard if you are sitting for a long time over a meal. there is a very relaxed atmosphere here.... Not bad
(28 January 2011)
by: Angie R. 3 out of 5
This is a pretty decent Italian restaurant, but I think the prices are definitely a little too high. It's from the same stable as the Dunne & Crescenzi and La Corte restaurants but I don't think that the food is good as their L'Officina restaurant in Dundrum. The best value offered here is with their fairly random Afternoon Special but if you're a late luncher then this is great - pretty much any pizza or pasta with a glass of wine for 12 euro. There's always a decent atmosphere in this... Read more...

Really good authentic Italian
(19 July 2010)
by: hugh m. 4 out of 5
Really like this place and try to get in as often as I can. Genuinely Authentic Italian fare in comparison to whats on offer in many so called 'Italians'. Atmosphere is relaxed and informal but always busy. Gets rave reviews by a lot of critics and you can see why. Open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their selection of antipasti and pasta dishes are excellent. Not expensive either ,any pasta dish/pizza and a glass of wine for 12 euro. If you like Italian food and haven't... Read more...

proper italian food!
(15 April 2010)
by: Maria R. 5 out of 5
Menu here is proper Italian food, unlike like a lot of Italian restaurants here that do pastas and pizzas and nothing else! Was here in a group of 15 and were sat downstairs alongside another table of the same amount (they were a stag party, we were on a post rugby family dinner!). The waiter was way too busy and was pretty stressed. But apart from having to wait a while before ordering everything else was great, everyone loved the food and the service was great. We were last to leave the... Read more...

Not impressed
(08 April 2010)
by: daryl a. 2 out of 5
I went into this restaraunt 2 days ago during the day at about 12, so it was before the lunch rush, when we went in there were no other customers in the restaraunt, so I was expecting to be looked after by the staff. We were ignored for about 4 minutes at the door, when finally we were told to sit were we like. When we sat, we were handed two menus, with not so much as a welcome from the waiter. I was quite embarrissed, as I was here about 2 years ago and had a great night so I recommended this... Read more...

Real Italian
(02 March 2010)
by: Roxanne B. 5 out of 5
This place feels like a real authentic Italian restaurant. The food here is lovely, a lovely atmosphere and really nice decor with great service. I had a really nice gnocci dish which was just the right size. I went with a large party and we were well looked after and everyone enjoyed their meal. They let just bring a cake in for our friend so that was great too! Would definitely recommend this place.... Read more...

Italian Quarter what now?
(06 February 2010)
by: Joanna B. 4 out of 5
I wonder is the Italian Quarter so named because there are 4 Italian restaurants in it? Having seen and experienced Little Italy in New York, it's kind of laughable to mark this little lane way as something so grand as the Italian Quarter but sure 10 out of 10 for effort. Bar Italia is in this case then the flagship of the quarter, (by the way, why is there a Mexican restaurant in this area??) it being authentic Italian food. It's always busy and in my opinion is pricey but you can't deny the... Read more...

Award-winning
(04 February 2010)
by: michelle m. 3 out of 5
Gave Bar Italia in the Italian Quarter a go last night (wednesday is date-night) - bit disappointed really. First thing you see when you walk in are all their awards - Georgina Campbell et all think Bar Italia is deadly, so it comes highly lauded. First off, menu is v v Italian. Now, I realise that the clue is in the restaurant name but most Italian restaurants modify the typical Italian meal a little to suit us meat-n-2-veg Irish. Not so Bar Italia. Himself looked terribly bewildered looking... Read more...

very italian
(13 January 2010)
by: Avril N. 4 out of 5
this place is run by italians and is very cozy and warm. It is quite expensive though. I had the Bruschetta All’Italiana, Penne Alla Contadina and Strawberries With Fresh Cream totalling 18euro minus the drink. The food was lovely and very filling. The staff were always on hand and made you feel very welcome. The restaurant is quite small with limited seating and you may have to reserve a seat at the weekends.... Read more...
