(06 December 2011)
by: Stuart K.

The Barge Bar is located on the banks of the grand canal halfway between harcourt street and Ranelagh village. its a large pub with three floors and bars on two of them. you can get fod here all day and you get a tasty meal and good portions too! this is a great pub to go to for sporting events such as six nations the craic is great and the crowds tend to flock onto the street outside if the weather is good! at weekends they usually have a dj playing 80s 90s music ... buzzing
(11 October 2011)
by: C J. 4 out of 5
i really like this place and as far as i know it has been here quite a while because i remember my mother said she used to go here. the barge is a decent size and has many floors. i dont like the music though, i dont really like olden goldy type 80's music, they do play 'some' good music. this place is cool if its a sunny day and you can sit outside or if there is a rugby match on, the place is usually buzzing!... Pints outside
(17 February 2011)
by: Paul L. 4 out of 5
The Barge is a really nice place in a spot on location. Theres nothing like chilling outside with a cold beer on a nice day. It always draws a big crowd and when you go there you see why. The place itself is quite nicely kept. Surprisingly the food in there was very good having been one sunday looking for a carvery. The big draw though is most certainly being able to drink by the canal.... Read more...

Gotta catch it at a good time..
(08 February 2011)
by: David K. 3 out of 5
Have to agree with Angie R on this one - it can get really messy in(out) here moreso when there's a vast congregation by the canal on a hot Summer's day. It tends to attract workers in businesses in the vicinity swilling away, 'enjoying' themselves come a Friday evening. I rarely go here, maybe the odd time for a carvery lunch on a Sunday. Which is fine. There's a bit of stagnant atmosphere generally, but isn't too bad if you can get in here when there are numbers but not packed. Not a bad... Read more...

Only good on a hot day
(27 January 2011)
by: Angie R. 3 out of 5
Having worked there for a long time a few years ago, the only thing that could persuade me back here for a few drinks is a hot summer's day when you can sit outside and enjoy the swans on the canal. Inside is a different story, there's a nice set up with different nooks and crannies, but the atmosphere is always terrible. This place attracts those after-work drinkers who don't know when to go home and it gets messy later one. The staff are fairly grumpy, but after working there, I now know it's... Read more...

Great Canel pub
(04 October 2010)
by: Noel E. 4 out of 5
This a good pub for a quick drink with nice people, the usual patrons are a friendly lot but you get a good mix of people here. Its a complete different pub on a fine summers evening than it is on a dark winters night. I love to call on a fine Summers evening as all sit outside overlooking the canel and you dont have to look at the traffic passing and making noise and filling you lungs with toxic fumes. Staff are on the ball and a quick to serve.... Read more...

Best in the Sun
(06 July 2010)
by: Jenny M. 4 out of 5
Ah sunny days outside The Barge. I reckon it may just be one of the best pubs in Dublin to sit outside with a cold pint and watch the world go by. The luas is a three minutes walk from the front door, a big plus in my eyes after a stint in the pub. It's nice and spacious inside too with plenty of room and good food available all day. All this said though The Barge for me is generally the place I drop into for "one drink" at about five and stumble out for the last luas, especially... Read more...

Enjoyable late night drink!
(07 March 2010)
by: dub girl g. 4 out of 5
Stopped in here late last night, after other pubs had shut and had a blast! There was a really good atmosphere, even though it wasn't that busy. Good music playing with some getting up for a dance. Will def be back now I know it's open late - not sure what time it shuts but we were there til 3am with no signs of it closing soon!... Read more...

Lazy Summer Drinking :>)
(18 December 2009)
by: Niamh C. 4 out of 5
Great place in the summer time as everyone drinks outside by the canal. Its open late most nights and gets a good crowd. The crowd is a mix of students, after work drinkers and locals. Its also great to go and watch sport here, they have lots of screens and there is always a good atmosphere,... more especially for the rugby games. They also serve food.... Read more...
