Great Atmosphere

(23 January 2012)

Report

I was in here during Christmas, they had a tiny model display of Bewleys inside with all of these miniature figurines. It was interesting to see a miniature model of the building I was standing, it was actually really nice. They also had a big Christmas tree lit up in the centre of the cafe. It's really nice, the staff are really helpful and the hot chocolate here is delicious. It was very busy while I was there, which is always a good sign, and it was just altogether a very pleasant place. The... Read more...

Loyalty Cards

(27 October 2011)

This place is GREAT in the mornings! I make sure it's on my route. The queues can be quite big, but if you duck off to the toilets and fix your make up or whatever first then get a coffee the queue has usually gone down. Though even standing in the queue, it goes pretty fast because the staff re pretty on the ball. Before 11, the coffees are 2 euro! Large, with Soya Milk and Syrup!!! That said, the chocolate bars are ridiculously priced! 95c for a macaroon! pfft!... Read more...

Loyalty Cards

The loyalty card scheme here for the takeaway coffee is simply superb. Not only do you get the coffee for 2 euro before 11am, all of your syrups/ soy milk etc is covered in that price. When you fill up four stamps on the loyalty card, you get your fifth cup free. So for those with a java habit; 8 euro a week is not a bad price to pay.... Read more...

Coffee and Culture!

Busy but brilliant, this cafe is consistenly filled to the rafters and with reason. Before 11am all take-away coffees are 2euro and still delicious! At lunch there is a theatre upstairs which puts on lunch and a show for a very reasonable price if you want something a little different - Well worth a shot if you have an hour for your break. If you just want a spot of lunch and a chin-wag with a friend, there is an abundant amount of seating, beautiful decor for if the conversation gets... Read more...

i think this place is iconic to grafton street at this stage, when they announced they were going to shut down a lot of people were not happy but thankfully they are back. they breakfasts in here are pure heaven and a real treat. the decor in here is dark and comfy and very old fashioned which is lovely. the coffee smells are nice too. the prices are good because of the lovely and pleasant experience you get overall..... Busy but great

A lovely place to sit and have a coffee and people watch - it does get very busy but you can queue for seating at the rear of the restaurant. The food is very tasty and the staff seem to be very pleasant and it's a nice a place as any to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Grafton Street!... Read more...

Breakfast = yummy, yummy

Breakfast at Bewley's is one of the favourite things to do with any visitors who come to stay with me in Dublin. Their blueberry pancakes are out of this world!! The setting is as good as the food and makes for a good discussion point. Unfortunately the service can be slow at times, but the food makes it worth the wait. No time to sit down - the take-away coffee and cakes are yummy as well.... Read more...

Go for the theatre...

I'm so pleased to have finally gone to Bewley's Café Theatre; it was so unlike anything else I've ever been to - an old, dark room with a tiny stage, and soup and brown bread to boot. (Although, if you book tickets online, know that lunch isn't included in the ticket price. We got the impression that it was; it was €4 each at the door). The play that was showing was Peter Sheridan's one man '47 Roses'. Showing until the 12th of July, I really do reccommend it. As for the... Read more...

Good food and drinks, but small portions

(22 June 2011)

I came here for the first time a little while ago, and I liked it quite a bit. They were able to seat us right away in the upstairs balcony part of the restaurant, so we had a great view of everything going on downstairs. Most everyone I was with ordered a salad, and so did I. Most things on the menu come in small and large sized portions, the waitress told us that we would probably do fine with a small but at the end of my meal I wished I had gotten a large. I also had the special cocktail of... Read more...

Bewleys do a great breakfast. The place is a little old fashioned with lots of stained glass. I remember my Mam taking me there when I was a kid, Always got a cream cake and a orange juice. Plenty of places to sit around and enjoy the food and people watch. There is a wide selection of delicious food and sweet cakes to have with your tea or coffee. Service can be a bit slow and I find if you are having the breakfast even slower. But it all tastes great and is a favourite of ours.... Read more...

How do you even review Bewleys??

How do you review something that is a part of Dublin, a part of the city, and a part of so many memories of your childhood? Bewleys on Grafton Street..... I have spent so much time in here over the years.... when I was a child, I used to come and sit and read my book and "people watch" with my mum.... and go out and buy a single sweet at the front counter for myself.... then over the years I have met friends there for coffees and catch up's, or just to pass some free time with a... I've been coming to Bewleys since I was a tot. It's been frequented by the likes of James Joyce and Wittgenstein. It's a fantastic place for your typical Irish fry up breakfast:9.95 for a full Irish breakfast.Since it's been taken over though, I just don't find the coffee to be of the same taste. It's a but on the milky side- maybe I'm just imagining it but I do hate when things change !... Read more...
