good hotel

I stayed here a while back with my family. The rooms were very nice. The staff were very professional & friendly and It has a very nice leisure centre. I thought that the food in bar was really fabulous and at good price. Its within walking distance of the city centre but may be too far if you have young children. While it all lacked a certain "special" factor, I would still be happy to go back.... Read more...

Great Value

I stayed here with a group of friends as we got a good rate on the internet. We simply wanted a bed for the night with no frills but i was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. There was plenty of parking in the underground carpark. The reception area was well kept and the bar was really lovely. It didn't feel like a hotel bar and was very inviting without being too noisy or lively. The room was very spacious and a good size for a families staying. The only fault i would have is that the... Ideal for the Family

We stayed here recently for a weekend away with the famly and it was a great expereince. The hotel is geared towards families, great leisure centre although may be a bit of a walk from some of the bedrooms. We got good value on meals as part of the deal but it might be a bit expensive to pay individually. The location is quite close to the city - we didn't walk as the kids were probably a bit young but when they are older it willbe ideal for walking to and from the city centre.... Read more...

Great For Families

(05 November 2011)

I've stayed here a number of times over the years when I'm visiting family in Galway. I've used the SuperValy Getaway Breaks offer anytime I stayed here so found it very good value especially when I've stayed midweek and got 3rd night free. When I stayed there was either just one adult or or a child stayed with their cousins so the bedroom was fine but if 2 adults plus 2 children stayed the room may have been a bit cramped. What makes this hotel great for families is the range of... Read more...

l stayed here for a night during the summer and enjoyed it. Our room was lovely, spacious, and nicely decoreated. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. We ate in the bar and found the food lovely and very reasonably priced. Another family were with us with four children and they got an inter-connecting room which was ideal. l found everything in this hotel excellent right from start to finish. lt is very child friendly as well which is a much added bonus. ... I stayed in this hotel twice, The first time I stayed I was on a business trip so just slept there and up early for breakfast and out. Had no complaints. The second time I stayed was on a family weekend away with the kids. We ordered a family room and paid top money for it. Room was small enough as was the bathroom so we felt it was a bit cramped and deffo not worth the money. Found food expensive and not worth it. Would be in a hurry back to this hotel if I was with the family... Read more...

Wasn't impressed!

I stayed here a few months ago for a much needed break. For what we paid, it definately wasn't worth it. The bathroom was tiny and the duvet cover had holes in it. The room was really hard to find. The breakfast was lovely and afterwards we were really looking forward to a swim but when we got to the pool it was cold. Wouldn't really recommend it to be honest!... Read more...

i stayed here with a group of friends about a year ago, we booked it as part of the supervalue getaway breaks offer. i have to say i was not impressed either by the location - basically its a good 25 minute walk out of the town and its right on top of a busy roundabout, or the food, we received burnt dinners, we were on a friends weekend away so didnt want to complain, but it was awful. the rooms and the hotel itself are lovely but its not for us... Great hotel for a night or two away - especially with children. Good area in the bar, set aside, for food. Fantastic kids club - our 5yo was there from 7.30pm to 9pm and it only cost us €5. She had a ball - wants to go back to that hotel! Room was beautiful and breakfast had a really good selection. All in all, great value and very pleasant.... Read more...

We stayed in the Carlton recently. The reception & bar are lovely, the rooms are small and okay. As a family of 4 we had a small campbed in the room, leaving it quite cramped. bar food was quite reasonably priced and was quite good, and service was fast and staff friendly. The hotel parttakes in teh supervalu breaks offer, so room was quite cheap. Main issue would be with the room, which was just a bit small for a family of 4 and could do with a fresh lick of paint!...
