The first thing that hits you when you enter is the warm welcome and unpretentious yet professional service. The food is wonderful. Featuring seasonal Irish produce and meat there is something for everyone. We always take the Maitre D's recommendations and have not been let down yet. The three-course pre-theatre dinner menu will only set you back €37.50 Portions were normal-person-sized, as opposed to other Michelin-starred places where you might get three bites' worth per course! The wine selection was broad enough to have good choices and there were some reasonable bottles on offer.Our service was consistently polite, quick and attentive, and the courses come out faster than in many restaurants with lower expectations. ... Have been to Chapter One on two ocassions and it is fab! The actual restaurant itself is very minimalist and understated. The atmosphere is quite subdued (well it was when I was there!) with most people eating in quietness or whispering. Special place for that special occasion. Fantastic food and superb service. We were late for our reservation by half and hour due to traffic restrictions, a friend we were meeting there was alone at the bar and was invited on a tour of the kitchen and also got a glass of champagne on the house while she waited. For those special occasions, then Chapter One is the place for me. I've never had a bad experience there, whether it was for the pre-theatre early bird menu or for the full Chapter One experience for dinner. Food is just mouthwatering. The flavours and quality of food is just exceptional. In additon, the service is wonderful, you are really made to feel like you are a valued customer. If money is no object, then this is my favourite Dublin restaurant. It's well worth the trek up to Parnell Square - the fact that it has managed to survive in this location is testament to how good it really is. Everything about it is high quality - the decor is simple and classy, the staff are excellent without being obtrusive, and the food is amazing (as you'd expect from a Michelin starred restaurant). for lovely food look no further. chapter one has more than earned its reputation. i had the sweetcorn soup with bacon and it really was delicious. the taste really reflected the whole ethos of this place. for a main i had the turbot which was pricey at thirty six euro but really enjoyable all the same. this is a fantastic place with a splendid menu that will have something to suit everyones tastes.... hmm...it is a lovely plac. Fact. And it has its fair share of celebrity clients- Bono was at the next table to me once! But I think it is really expensive for the actual food you get. Rabbit food would be the term, the portions are so small. The waitress was also quite snooty of herself. I suppose you are paying for the experience and not the actual food...... Read more...
