Yummy

Great location great restaurant. If you are on the south side of town and hungry at 4am Charlies on george's street is the place to go. Get yourself a 3 and 1 or a lovely chicken sweet and sour and better yet get both (to share) and have a bit of everything. This is a big and clean restaurant and the food is always without a doubt yummy. Must try this during the day to see if its good sober!... Read more...

Charlies is an ideal spot for a bite to eat after a few drinks. It is like a take away but with seating available so you can eat in . Love their curry particularly after a few drinks and the price is reasonable. Food is served relatively quickly so no waiting around. Love a Charlies when I am in town having a night out !... Charlies
(08 January 2011)

Charlies is a grand spot to stop off on the way home from a night out. it is really take away food and there is definately nothing healthy about it. The chips are greasy and the chicken balls are dripping in oil b ut it makes it all the more tasty and if your after a few drinks you don't think about that!! It is reasonably enough priced and i like their curry sauce with chips.... Read more...

Rather my local
(22 July 2010)

The food is decent-which is alot more than can be said for some Chinese places. However quite overpriced for what you get. Too 'American' might be the term Im looking for, not that that is always a bad thing but I have a bit of love for Chinese chips and was a bit surprised to be served French Fries. An okay place to pop in like a cafe, if thats what you are in the mood for, but I'd rather stay at home and order a 3-in-1 from my local. ... Read more...

too expensive
(21 June 2010)

I do not see the appeal with Charlies. I remember a friend telling me that it was amazing and we headed there post-night out for a good Asian-style binge. For in and around a tenner each, we got our mains, mine being a classy chicken balls with fried rice and curry. Meh. Greasy, not exceptional. Just as it would be for 6 euro delivered to my door. The restaurant itself felt a bit grubby, and the harsh lighting didn't do the place, nor us, any favours. The service wasn't exactly awe-inspiring... Read more...

Great place to engage with crazies after a night out
(30 March 2010)

A bit too expensive. Food's really not great. Good location though, and if you just want to sit around munching on chicken balls and substandard westernized curry sauce then this place is for you. It's a bit of a dive. The staff pay no attention to anyone. The menu seems broad but honestly all the food tastes the same. It's really not great. It seems to attract crazy people and students. I still go here. Good location.... Read more...

Lack of curry.
(27 February 2010)
by: Cathal C. 2 out of 5
Generally, I'm a fan of Charlies, particularly Charlies 1: MSG sodden carbs in the middle of the night, what's not to like? Well, I'll tell you what's not to like. A little while ago, I got my usual (3-in-1) from Charlies 4 on George's St. When I eagerly removed the cardboard lid (I don't believe in 3-in-1s on plates), I was disappointed to discover a dearth of curry sauce. This meant that there wasn't a sufficient amount to seep down and coat the layer of rice underneath. I was pretty... Read more...
