Misleading Promotional Offer!

(25 December 2011)

Report

by: Kathleen G. 1 out of 5

I visited Debenhams Patrick Street Cork on Friday December16th 2011at approx 20.15pm with the intention of purchasing some gift vouchers. On entering the store I saw several signs promoting gift vouchers and stating clearly that if a voucher in excess of €50 was purchased a separate €10 voucher would be issued to the customer. The offer expired on December 17th and the €10 voucher should be used by December 24th. I purchased a €50 gift voucher, paid for it and did not... Read more...

Debenhams Cork

I used to like this shop years ago when it first came to Cork but i feel it has gone very downhill since that. The shop itself is a bit all over the place & I struggle to find what I am looking for. Every time I go to a changing room it seems to be closed. Their prices do not reflect the current economic situation - they have definitely not gone down since the recession started. They do have some nice occasion wear (like Debs dresses/ bridesmaid dresses) and very good make up counters... Read more...

It's only ok

I've been to this branch of Debenhams on many occasions but it's not one of the better ones. The layout is messy and I tend to go round in circles a bit looking for anything. However I've found the staff helpful enough, particularly in the children's section. The last time I was there, the changing rooms were closed but when I asked at the till where the children's changing rooms were, the assistant immediately opened them. They do have very good sales though.... Read more...

I was only in here once and don't plan to go back. Truly awful layout, I found it really hard to navigate and find my way around the store, that is something that really ruins the shopping experience in my opinion! I am not a fan of the clothes in debenhams to be honest, I think most of it is low quality and overpriced, I only like the cosmetics nowdays! I like the Urban Decay products they sell and the girls at the makeup counters are much more knowledgeable than the ones in BT's!... Read more...

LOUD SCREECHS SHOWS AUTHORITY

A well laid out and stocked store although I find the quality, in some instances, to be not much above Primark or Pennys. This wouldn’t be so grating if the prices were also in the same league. When mentioning prices I can also say that items in this store are also much dearer than similar in UK stores. Something to do with rates and the generally higher cost of living in this country, I have been informed. I get a some of my kids clothes here, nonetheless, and if you take time and... Read more...

Went here early in the summer when the weather was good to get some summer clothes for myself. I bypassed the expensive t-shirts because I could get ones that were better quality a few streets away, in a locally owned store (this is a very unusual Cork City outlet because the two elderly gents, that run it, are very mannerly and treat their customers with respect), for at least €15 cheaper. I eventually picked a short pair of trousers and - hoping for a good summer – took... Read more...

Everyone i know loves this place, personally i think its ok. Has everything you need for you to wear, use and decorate a house with. My sister in law dresses completely from this place. Every male member of the family got reasonably priced suits for a family wedding there not too long back. I find that alot of the items that arent on sale pricey, but on the flip side better quality so it balances out... Read more...

Sprawling department store, good bargains at times

It's easy to get lost in here because of the size and layout of the place. Not the best place to bring small kids for this reason - if they do get lost it can be a nightmare for them and you. A lot of people say they miss Roches but in terms of clothes I quite like the designer brands that you can get in here now such as John Rocha and Jasper Conran etc aswell as the wide range of household stuff and cosmetics. Very good bargains to be found at sale times but some kinds of things such as the... Read more...

Although i love the shops that are in there and the great selection it is all a bit jumbled up. The staff are always nice. Finding a till to pay is a problem and if you are looking for some help it is very hard to find someone to give you a hand finding a size. Its a bit like do it yourself in here but i can't fault the wide selection of items and the sales in this shop can be very good. ... Read more...

Give us back Roches!

The one time home of the all Irish, old time department store that was Roches Stores, has been replaced by this chain store super giant. I have always preferred Roches, as I gather have most people. Debenhams lacks personality in any way, yes I am aware its not a person, but it lacks that well anything really except a feeling of being super imposing! The only really good thing here is the cosmetic hall, and even at that I prefer Brown Thomas next door!... Read more...

ok the layout is shocking and need to be changed. I was in Debenhams last weekend and it took me ages to find a till. They always seem to be changing them around for some reason. I do love all the adult clothes as they have a fantastic choice with so many differnet shops spread out in the store. I find the Childrens clothes to be quite expensive but having said that they do have great sales in this section on a regular basis. I love the make up counter. I think it is well laid out and the...
