Great spot

Have been coming to Doyles on and off since my college days and I never get tired of it. Its an old style bar downstairs - nothing fancy but its a good place to meet friends for a few pints. There's two floors above if your looking for a bit of a dance, they have DJ's from wednesday to saturday. Have a good trad night on a Sunday and their also open late 7 nights a week. Great pub.... Nice place

Expect to see a young college age crowd in this cool pub/bar. They have bands playing here quite a lot, ive been to see a few myself, and its always a bustling place around the weekend. Its relatively central location make it a handy spot for a decent night out but if you are looking for a quiet pint and a chat with a mate well I guess that this place is not where you want to be looking at.... This is quite a popular place at any time it seems. It'd be a far cry from my favourite haunt but it's not too bad at all. I only tend to come here during the day, on a weekend. It does have a tendency to get packed particularly if there's rugby on, but I suppose a lot of pubs do on the days of big internationals etc. There's a nightclub in here too and in my experience it has always been jammed. It's fine, and there's no particular type that go there - a good mix. Not bad overall.... Read more...

I have to say I'm a big fan of Doyles. I've been coming here on and off for a long time and I never seem to get tired of the place. The ground floor is an old style traditional bar whereas upstairs has a bit more of a nightclub feel. Has a grungy and unpretentious feel to it and attracts a really good crowd. Music is great - plenty of indie tunes most nights. Doesn't charge in either. Gets really packed on thursday nights.... Read more...

Doyle's is definitely a place to come to let your hair down. The bands that play Upstairs are great and if memory serves there was battle of the comedians here and that was great crack. The crowd that come here are all great fun and seem to be an eclectic mix of college folk as well as tourists and regulars.I often meet up with friends here for the laid back atmosphere and friendly staff.... Trinity favourite

Doyle's is a really great compromise between the pub and the club. Downstairs has plenty of snugs and corners where you can comfortably chat, and upstairs has a real indie club vibe with a decent-sized dancefloor. It has a floating population of Trinity students, which mean the crowd is always young and lively. The decor is very traditional in an unpretentious way and the atmosphere is really relaxed. However, because there's no cover at the weekend, it's a liable to packed so if you're... Read more...

Doyles is a real favorite with the student indie crowd. Theres always a great easy going atmosphere in here. Its spread out over three floors and theres music upstairs. The downstairs bar is an old style Dublin bar. Tuesday night is singer songwiter night and its usually a good night - not too packed.Theres also a comedy night on Sundays. ... Read more...

Indie Bar

(30 June 2010)

Report

by: Marshall K. 2 out of 5

Pumping out indie tunes all night long this place attracts a real student crowd. The downstairs is your bog standard city center bar, quite traditional with not a lot of space. Upstairs is more of a nightclub with a small dance area. After about 12 this place becomes packed and the biggest moves you will be able to pull out on the dance floor is the a slight sway and even at that you will probably be knocking someone's drink out of there hand. You have too choices with this place, get there... Read more...

This place attracts a real student crowd, and every night of the week the place is overflowing with Trinity students. This place becomes a total sweat box, and is mostly blasting out indie tunes, which I'm not in love with anyway, but seem to drive the pretentious arts students wild. I do praise the punctuations of cheesy pop songs from the 90s though, and it is DEFINITELY a good place for dancing- absolutely everyone dances here. During the day time it's much more relaxed, and it's a cosy... Read more...

Worth a visit on a Friday night.

This is an interesting bar that mixes the surroundings and decor of a traditional Dublin pub with the music, clientele and bustle of a nightclub. Frequented predominantly--but not exclusively--by students, especially of the Trinity College variety (it is right across the road from the campus), Doyles is a trendy venue in Dublin that doesn't charge a cover on a busy Friday or Saturday night. This bar, especially upstairs, is liable to be fully packed on a weekend night, so you should arrive... Read more...

I used to go here years ago when I was waitressing in town and it was always a good spot to go to for an after work drink. The place is relaxed so you can actually hold a conversation with people! Upstairs is where the dancing area is and there is usually a good crowd. The music isnt typical pop and they play some good tunes and some good oldies!... Read more...
