Joyful

My kids love Dublin Zoo. They get sooo excited when they see the statues of the giraffes and the numerous play parks dotted between the animal areas. Mostly they hop from park area to park area while we (the adults) enjoy a leisurely stroll and a disjointed conversation. They food available at the zoo is not great so we usually pack a picnic and buy a coffee when we are there. The coffee is good. There are plenty of picnic tables. The parking is free. Get there early. ... Read more...

the aZoo

We were at Dublin Zoo a few weeks ago with several children in tow. It is always a favourite with everyone including adults. Great way to spend a day and the animal enclosures have improved a lot over the years. Two new gorillas were gorgeous and cute. When we arrived the weather was lovely but during the visit the sky opened and a hailstorm covered the place. A visit can work out expensive but with Family ticket helps with the budget. It can be tiring for the younger ones but there is plenty... Read more...

One Million Visitors.
(22 December 2011)
by: Slugfest .. 3 out of 5
If you are interested in visiting Dublin Zoo over the Christmas and before December 31st and if you log on to their Facebook page and click on Like you can get a voucher that will admit a family to the Zoo for €2,50 per person. This is off the normal price of about €15 per adult and €10.50 per child under 16 years of age. The Zoo is trying to achieve the magic 1000,000 visitors mark for this year and break all previous records. Good one.... Read more...

nice day out, on a quiet day
(18 December 2011)
by: Caroline O. 3 out of 5
have had two trips here, one very busy day, one very quiet day. on the busy day, we could hardly see in front of us and i was afraid i would lose my children. on the quiet day, it was a pleasant visit. i felt most of the screens in front of the animals were difficult to see through because of condensation. there were such an amount of animals to see. the african plains are simply stunning, plenty of art students drawing as they saw. enjoyed our visit here, will return... I always like a trip to Dublin zoo in the heart of the phoenix park as it's a good day out if you plan it right. Bring your food and drinks with you as it's very pricey in there to buy anything. It takes a good while to get around and if you have kids under the age of 5 bring a buggy as it will be a struggle to get around without one because there is alot of walking. I don't rate this highly because whenever I have been there the animals were either asleep or hiding. You also need to check... Read more...

A great day for friends and family of all ages
(13 December 2011)

You're never too old for the zoo. It's a great day out especially when the weather is good, which happens rarely in Ireland but with saying that you could be lucky. There is a quite range and variety of animals in Dublin zoo. They are well taken cared of. The location in phoenix park is great and the common bus the 46A goes right to it or if you can drive, all the better. The parking is free in the Phoenix park. One thing I would suggest-bring a picnic, it's a rip-off in there! Also bring a... Read more...

Fun day out!
(27 November 2011)
by: Ruby W. 4 out of 5
Dublin Zoo is great fun for all the family and for all ages. It can be a bit pricey however - but then again, it's a treat, it's not something you'd do every weekend so I think it's well worth it. Car parking can be an issue on a fine day when it seems half the country have the same idea for a trip to the zoo - so be warned! The zoo is very big and have lovely paths to browse and take your time going around. There's a great variety of animals with everything from elephants to tigers to... Read more...

Great day out
(27 November 2011)
by: Sined C. 5 out of 5
I only recently went to Dublin Zoo for the first time and we had a fantastic day out. We got a great deal through the Tesco Clubcard promotion, which worked out at only E4.00 per ticket in Clubcard tokens. The Zoo is just huge. My youngest is 5 and she struggled a bit at the end!! It really does take up a day to go around all the Zoo and stopping for lunch etc. I loved the huge variety on different animals, some in there I'd never seen in real life, especailly the snow leopard - he was... Brilliant Day Out
(10 November 2011)
by: Olive R. 5 out of 5
We had a fantastic day out here in August. The Zoo was really busy but that was because the sun was splitting the stones! The queue as we approached was very long but thankfully it moved fairly quick due to good organisation. This visit was even better than 3 years ago and the work they are doing is fantastic. The Africian Plains is amazing and you now get to see the animals so much closer than ever before! Will have to plan another trip to see the new Gorilla area. We brought a picnic and there... Happy Childhood memories
(08 November 2011)
by: Aine M. 5 out of 5
I have so many fond childhood memories of Dublin Zoo that when I recently returned there as an adult I thought that they would not be the same. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised the zoo is even better then I remembered. One of my childhood memories that really sticks out is holding a baby gorilla and a baby chimp. I remember feeding the snow leopard cubs that they had there at one stage. For such a small facility they do have a good selection of animals. I did notice that the... Read more...

Nice zoo, is in a lovely setting although was slightly difficult to locate! BUt that could have just been ditzy old me ha! I was slightly disappointed with the range of animals but it is possible that some were not in view or away for feeding treatments, etc. Nice gift shop, the kids loved it, bought lots of souveniers of thier favourite animals. I would recommend this a nice place for a day out with the kids.... Read more...
