This is a lovely little Italian Restaurant located in a nice quiet street in town. The waiters are Italian and it makes you feel like you are in little Italy. They have a very decent list of wines of which at this stage I've had several,I recommend the house wine. Also you get very tasty crusty Italian bread here which you cannot get anywhere else and it is worth it to come for that alone. The pasta dishes are substantial and you dont feel stuffed afterwards and the prices are very competitive!... I can't say enough about this place. It just oozes Italian culture, from the cork filled counters to the sophisticated atmosphere. This is a lovely place to get lunch or dinner. It is in a nice quiet street so it's nice to have somewhere to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. The staff are excellent here and really know how to make a good cup of jo, which believe it or not is actually hard enough to come by.... Read more...

Good but a bit overrated

I often end up in here with friends, and while it can be decent, it's nowhere to rave about. The food can be really delicious or a bit of a let down depending on what you get. I would consider this more of a place to have a coffee or a glass of wine and some nibbles as I think it's definitely overpriced if you're forking out for a full meal with wine here. The service ranges from sweet and friendly to incredibly rude depending on which member of staff you get. The tiramisu gets a big thumbs up.... Read more...

i haven't been in here for a while now but the last time i was in i ordered something from their specials menu. it was very good value and the food was delicious. the service is always very good and i love the atmosphere in here as it is always busy and there is always a good buzz around. i love their wine list but tend to stick to the house wine it is great too. ... Food is really good

I've seen from a few of the other reviews that this place has received fairly mixed reviews,I have to say I've been here a number of times and really liked it. Ok it is a little on the expensive side but the food is quality. Their cold meat and cheese plates are superb. They do an Italian sausage and bean dish which is perfect comfort food on a cold day. They have a wide ranging menu - plenty of salads, pasta ,soups and rissottos. Nice atmosphere and definitely worth trying out.... Read more...

Service with a Snarl

Looks better than it is. Staff are rude and sooooo slow!!!! Took us ages to get menus, water, wine, starters, main....everything.....Tables are too close together with strangers practically sitting on your lap to eat - not very romantic. White wine is warm apparently because that's the temperature of their fridge - perhaps it's time to get the fridge fixed??! Wine is a rip off €24 for a carafe of cheap warm pino grigio - give me a break! Food is edible but its just not worth the stress... Read more...

Nice italian style decor, wooden tables, with a view of some fine wines. You feel like you are in a wine cellar which I like. Mixed reviews about this place but have to say I find it very laid back and relaxing but then I tend to "do lunch" here. Nice ... Read more...

Overrated and Arrogant

I have been to Dunne and Crescenzi many times - I have never LOVED this place but strangely kept returning! Alas, I think I endured my final visit last week. There is no doubt the place looks great inside, lovely atmosphere and flanked by some seriously nice wine, its a great place to enjoy a good coffee and food - or so you would think! After standing forlornly at the door for what seemed like an age, a waitress (who clearly had gotten out of the wrong side of the bed) ushered us to a table.... Read more...

A good enough place to eat in, and definitely Italina vibe and flavours but maybe a bit pricey and not much of a big deal when you can get so many nice Italina restaurants serving similar food. The retaurant in town is definitely better than the Dundrum one which is a bit cramped and the staff a bit too busy to serve you promptly. Nice but not outstanding ... Read more...

Good Food But Overrated

(17 February 2010)

Report

by: Nigel D. 3 out of 5

Food here is tasty, well presented and cooked to order, but it is pricey enough. It is a busy restaurant (perhaps a victim of its own success?), and staff manner/atmosphere in the place is just 'ok'. Desserts are delicious and wine list is pretty extensive with a range of good quality offerings.I would recommend this as a good restaurant, but it would not be my first choice for a nmeal out.... Get the antipasto.

Don't worry about the odd title - the food is much more reflective of the 'Crescenzi' rather than the 'Dunne' influences - so it's an Italian restaurant, not one serving, I don't know, stew or whatever. I like Dunne and Crescenzi in that it's more of a lunch place, and as such it has a nice casual, laid-back vibe about it. D&C is perhaps best known for its antipasto, and I can vouch that this reputation is well deserved. D&C's antipasto could do you as a meal itself, or you could... Read more...
