An institution in expense

(14 October 2011)

This place is almost a museum as much as a shop, where you can try on hats and glasses you wouldn't otherwise find. It has almost become an institution, a veritable hot spot for vintage shopping. Unfortunately it knows it, as the prices sky rocketed with its popularity. Their clothes are wide ranging, with clothes for everyone from large men to teeny women and vice versa, but as with all vintage shops, there is not sizes for everyone. Still, it's a good place to start, to see what suits... Read more...

The Eager Beaver has almost become an institution of second hand clothing. They stock a large range of mens and womens clothes. They had lovely track suits the day l was here. The prices were a little less expensive then other vintage shops l had visited. l would recommend a visit here if you are in the area. lt is a colourful shop, you will alos find a large range of retro style 70's track-suits and sportswear.... A little expensive

As the ' vintage' fad has taken off this shop has become increasingly more expensive than when it was just a 'secondhand' shop. Some of the stuff is unwearable except to a fancy dress party. There is a lot of nicer stuff but it's very pricy - why pay 20 euro for a wrecked secondhand tracksuit top when you could get a similar, retro style one in Penneys for half the price?... The Eager Beaver can be a bit hit-and-miss sometimes when it comes to the vintage section, sometimes you'll find a gem and oher times you'll find some items that are complete tat. It's worth rummaging around, as I have found some vintage dresses in here that have become stapes of my wardrobe and have lasted for ages. It can be a bit expensive, but if you're a vintage fan it's worth every penny.... Read more...

Love a good rummage in here. Eager Beaver is a colourful second-hand, retro shop that stocks everything from flares, jeans and trendy seventies print t-shirts.They also stock a lot of retro sportswear - 70's Adidas track-suit jackets, Puma trackie bottoms, old Converse stuff etc. They have a huge range in comparison to some of the other secondhand stores. There pricing is not too expensive either. ... Read more...

70

Really nice vintage shop, and less typical than the others as it definitely has a more 70's emphasis than most. Thus, the vintage is more casual and there is an abundance of flared jeans and cords, as well as old-school band tees. Not the place to go if you're looking for a flashy costume for a themed party- it's much more relaxed and more the place to go if you're just looking for a cool t-shirt or a funky retro jacket. More reasonably priced than most vintage joints too so definitely worth a... Read more...

Who's an eager beaver?

Once upon a time I wouldn't buy any item of clothing without looking in here first- you get flared chords, hippie waistcoats and blouses, punk t shirts and hoodies and some really cool vintage jackets. There was even a fantastic musty 'old clothes' smell in the place. I popped in here for the first time in about two years the other day and couldn't belive it! What a revamp, it looks great. Much of the mens clothing used to be upstairs, there now is no upstairs and those clothes are in the... Read more...

Retro

Eager Beaver is a fairly decent second-hand, retro shop. It is a fairly decent size store with a large selection of cords, jeans and retro seventies t-shirts and tracksuits. I would not classify the shop as vintage - just a lot of casual retro seventies/eighties gear - Converse, Adidas etc. Find a lot of the stuff -(as with most secondhand stores in Dublin) overpriced. Still, its well worth a rummage to find something outside the box.... Read more...

Good Old Vintage Rummaging

Ah back in the day when Temple Bar was only a glint in Dublin Council's eye and DV8 was the ONLY place to get decent funky footwear, the Eager Beaver was a well visited place for me. I remember buying men's dinner jackets and navy busmens macs all of which were essential wardrobe staples of a fervent Cure Head. As I moved on in life I still went in for vintage linen and fabrics and what was always a great Saturday rummage. They have french linen and those amazing bolster cases and double pillow...
