I have to say I really like this place! it is a really cool place to go for to do something different! i love the decor and the place is lovely and clean. There are many levels so there is fun to be had on all. As a theatre it is very nice, I went to a show last year with my family and I have to say it was very enjoyable. I would go again.... As a children we were brought to the Gaiety for Christmas to see one of the pantos and took our children to the pantomimes as well when they were young. They put on some very good musical/ pantos/ musicals/operas/ and other performances and they were always very well organised. The interior is gorgeous, plush seating, impressive chandeliers they have a good bar and since the refurbishment looks very nice. There have been some very famous actors and others performing there over the years. A... Read more...

This is a really cool place and one of the best theatres around. They put on some amazing shows and Pantos especially around christmas time. THe decor is old fashioned but it adds to the character of the place. Its a place for all the family as young and old enjoy the shows on offer here. Its location is perfect with st stephens green shopping centre right across the road with ample parking and lots of restaurants offering pre theatre specials in the surrounding area. It is a really great... Read more...

The Gaiety

What a beautiful theatre. Its like stepping back into a time where going out to the theatre still held some glamour. It really makes you feel like it's an event, something special is here, about to happen. It has the romance of the past but still holds contemporary hearts. My favourite theatre in Dublin by far.... only just realised from another poster that this has reopened again at night.it was a shame it closed in the first place as it was one of the best places in dublin for a great night out.set over three floors playing a wide variety of music both live and djs.everything from soul ska and blues with movies showing on a big screen all set in a beautiful building.glad its back!not sure how much entrance fee is now but it was 15 euro or thereabouts three or four years ago so hopefully its come down... I came to the nightclub a few years ago with a group of medical students. It was quite a random experience as there was a group of Asian students amongst us who were drinking guiness and substituting cadburys chocolate for oysters as it tasted better. The club was actually pretty cool and you could go in and look at the theatre while it was closed off but it was more of a place you'd try once and then not really venture back. ... Read more...

Best theatre

(07 February 2011)

Report

by: Angie R. 4 out of 5

This is my favourite theatre in Dublin - I've been going there since I was a child. Since it's refurbishment in recent years it's even nicer - a lot of the old features were kept so it still has plenty of character. I love the handprints on the pavement outside, which are Ireland's answer to the Hollywood Boulevard stars :D It also has big marble benches outside which is some of the only public seating in this area of town. I like that it has a number of different bars, so there's always... Read more...

It's very rarely you will find a theatre as beautiful as this one that is so modest when it comes to marketing themselves. If you have never been, you should make it your business to get some tickets to an upcoming show, get dressed up and head out for a wonderful evening. The theatre always attracts top plays and acts so you wil not be disappointed no matter what you go to see. The panto at Christmas every year should be obligatory for kids, every child should get to experince the magical... Read more...

Now to be completely honest I only ever really visit the Gaiety Theatre once a year to bring the children to the panto and we always have a fantastic time. We go in a group with another family and make a decent treat out of it. This is a fantastic theatre in the heart of Dublin that is completely steeped in history. If the walls here could talk I am sure the gossip would be fantastic. ... Read more...

I went to the Christmas Panto here in December and i have to say it was excellent. The Gaiety is a real old style theatre and i like the seating in it. The decor is very old fashioned but the place is well kept and clean. They have a shop there too. Only thing i found is that it is a costly night out when you count tickets, a snack or a drink and parking but ok now and again.... Read more...
