you dint find many pub,s around dublin like this place real old skool you get a nice pint in here regardless what time of day you go in and the price is not too bad for a city centre pub you get a big mix of poeple in here some local,s other,s like myself just looking for some of the old pub charm and this place has it all so if your coming down for a pint dont expect a spotless clean pub but the charm of the place will have wanting to come back for more. ... This is quite an alternative pub with an equally alternative crowd.Fantastic place to go for a pint in dublin. It doesn't matter what day of the week it is or whether college is in session or not, the place is always buzzing.Great atmosphere and definitely somewhere to let your hair down! The bar staff are very friendly but sometimes a bit slow, but the decor is outstanding! Deffo be back. ... Read more...

probably one of my favorite pubs ever with such a varied clientele.like the peaceful atmosphere here during the day and the cosiness at night time.great that there is no television ,music or plasma screens.always worried however this place will become trendy to go and become overrun with people!enjoy having a look at the artwork on the walls too .was in here lately after not having been in ages and was glad to see not much has changed. still serving plain ,non trendy ham and cheese toasties!... Old School

Grogans is a breath of fresh air amongst the plethora of so called trendy bars in town. Its nothing fancy, an old style bar and lounge which is simply decorated. It attracts a real mix of a crowd, from students to tourists, all here just to enjoy a few drinks and have a bit of a laugh. Its a lovely place to have a drink outside on a sunny day. Its a good spot to meet new people. Pints are great here too.... Read more...

Boozer

(17 February 2011)

Report

This is a boozer in the real sense of the word. Ive never failed to enjoy myself in here and no , with the atmosphere being the way it is, its real easy to just get chatting to anyone - you meet people from all over the place in here. It stands out in Temple Bar amongst the flashier tourist seeking places (dont get me wrong you will still find the tourists here too!) but Grogans has history behind it that others just dont.... Good old fashioned pub

(24 January 2011)

Grogans is one of the few 'old school' pubs left in Dublin and it's well worth a visit. There is nothing better than sitting down on one of the ancient seats and enjoying one of the best pints of Guinness available in Dublin. You never know who you might see there and if you happen to go in on your own, you'll never be left wanting for conversation! You have to try one of their famous toasted sandwiches too. Not the most appetising looking but definitely hit the spot if you are in need of... Read more...

A proper pub

(24 January 2011)

Report

by: Franco L. 4 out of 5

This is a proper grotty pub in the heart of an area which has been taken over by trendy establishments which seem to change hands and names every six months. Grogan's is divided into two halves - although I still haven't worked out which bit is the bar and which is the Lounge - someone help please as I now understand that the drinks are more expensive in the Lounge part! It draws an ecletic crowd, from grumpy old men, to tourists, to trendy young things stopping off on their way to Pygmalion... Read more...

Like drinking in an art gallery

One of the best city centre pubs - it's divided into two areas, the bar and the lounge. I'd been going there for years before realising that the drinks were more expensive if you ordered them at the Lounge end of the bar! Always a great mix of people and the kind of place where it can sometimes be hard to get a table during the day. Great outside section which usually has free live entertainment from the buskers who set up shop outside. There are often sing songs if someone sitting in the... Read more...

Love starting my weekends off here. No widescreens here!. Atmosphere and crowd here are always good no matter what time of day. Around over a hundred years and hope it never changes. The bar is ancient and the pints are great. Crowd spills out onto sth william street in the evening if it gets packed. Crowd is a mixed and interesting bunch - all ages. Never fail to strike up an interesting and often unexpected conversation in here - its that kind of place. ... Read more...

Interesting place

Been into Grogan's a good many times. Mainly while "in college" during the day. It's full of a mad eclectic mix of people, from mime's to barristers. The aul fellas down the end of the bar are good for a rant in the early afternoon. It gets a bit too busy of a Friday or Saturday evening. But anyday, anytime of the week it's worth a visit for a no frills sit down, chat and a pint. There's no sign of a TV or any music in here so it's a nice escape. I don't want to give it 5 stars cause... Read more...

0ne of the best licensed premises in Dublin. Grogans is an unpretentious oasis in a town full of bars trying too hard to be cool and never quite getting there. It is home to a mix of allsorts - old men, students, arty types and oddballs - all with a healthy attraction to greatguinness and good conversation. Packed to the rafters on weekend nights. If you haven't been make sure you check Grogans out - great boozer! ... Read more...

ok this is one of my favourite bars in the world, the furniture lacks a desirable touch but thats what gives the place its coolness, the walls are covered in artistic paintings and photographs which are for sale! they poor a great pint of guiness and you can easily fill an empty belly with a cheap and cheerful toasted sandwich...right outside on a sunny day you can take your stool and sit socking up the sun peacefully, while still being in the center of town...a definite must!...
