Beautiful

(07 November 2011)

I haven't been in Herbert Park in a while but since the weather is so nice I decided to pop down for a walk. It is just beautiful - so well worth a visit. As it is a bit further out of the city centre in comparison to Stephen's Green it is so much quieter. For the kids you have a playground there as well and of course the opportunity to feed the ducks. It's just really nice and quiet and because of the layout people aren't on top of each other ... Read more...

It is a while since I have been in Herbert Park. We were staying at a nearby hotel recently and decided not to move from within 500 yds or so of the hotel for the duration of our stay. We would use the hotel, the local pubs, the local restaurants and the local amenities. We strolled in to the park and were were delighted to see that all the trees that line the road between the divided park had all matured and looked lovely. About 15 years ago or so all these trees had to be cut down because... Read more...

Herbert Park

I love this park and the setting is perfect. I used to bring my children to it on a regular basis to feed the ducks and run around in the grass. It is well kept with lots of flower beds and plently of seats to sit and relax. Nice place for a picnic as you will always feel safe as there are usually several other people sitting and enjoying themselves. There is a good children's playground across the road from the park and also a bowling green another nice area to sit and if there is a blowing... Read more...

This is such a lovely park to visit especially in the summer. Kids will love feeding the ducks and swans and there is also a play park. You can have a lovely walk through here and if you are super organized it is definitely a place to bring a picnic and you can feed your leftover crusts to the ducks! There's a lot going on down there in terms of sports like soccer and boot camp fitness.... Read more...

My sister and myself wanted to visit the city of Vienna in Austria. When we checked the cost of the flights with Aer Lingus to fly there it was very expensive. A friend told us to use Bratislava airport in Slovakia and get the bus connection back to Vienna. We were able to do this much cheaper. The drive through the vineyards from Bratislava to Vienna was one of the most beautiful drives I have ever been on. It was almost like a day tour in itself. When we reached Vienna we were dying to visit... Read more...

park with something for everyone

Herbert Park has something for everyone. Its a great place to grab a lunchtime walk if you work in the area. For parents you can easily spend a couple of hours there between the playground and the lake for feeding the ducks in the larger park. There are tennis courts that you can hire by the hour. The park has a lovely feel to it and is extremely well kept. Only downside is that you have to park on the road and feed the meter.... Read more...

Really nice park

(26 January 2011)

This park has an interesting design in that it is really more like two separate parks as there is a busy road splitting it. Both sections have an OK children's playground. The smaller part also has tennis courts and a bowls green, both of which are not too exorbitantly priced. The bigger part is really lovely - it has a huge, nicely designed pond with plenty of ducks to be fed. It also has sports pitches and seating areas with a bandstand. It's very well maintained and always feels safe - it... Read more...

Bring some bread to feed the ducks.

My mother grew up living beside and playing in this park. We were often brought there as children. As a result I brought my own children there and now my grandaughter. It is easy enough to get parking at weekends but less easy during the week when you also have to pay and display. I have also had the pleasure of playing in the outdoor bowls section of the park some years back when I was a member of a bowling club. There is a play area for children that is usually packed. I thought that the... Read more...

Herbert Park is a great place to sit down and pan out with some friends when there is good weather. The place is well looked after and there is no issue with rubbish or anything as such as you may find in other public parks. The bushes and flower beds are delightful and it is only a short walk into either Ballsbridge or Donnybrook if you want to go for something to eat. Great place to bring the kids. ... Read more...
