Great meal

(16 September 2012)

I was taken for a meal at Heuston station recently and I have to admit that my expectations were not high, in fact if I had a choice I would not have gone there. But I was very pleasantly susprised by everything, the food was great and loads of it, the service was first class. The place was not too busy, which is the way I like it to be. There were loads of choices and each one looked beautiful. I will certainly be going there again and able to park at the rear a big plus.... Read more...

this is a okay train station and we have used it alot to travel down the country. theres a good car park at the back or what we did was get a taxi, theres a huge taxi rank outside. the luas is neary and you could use this as well. the trains are okay inside comfortable and if your lucky you can be all by yourself or the journey. theres a place to have something to eat or a drink in the bar. theres a few seats but they could do with some more when the place is busy.... Big!

I dont like the fact that this train station doesn't have ticket booths where you can buy your tickets (or perhaps I walk around with my eyes shut and miss them!). You have to buy your tickets from a machine, which can be annoying if you have a question regarding your journey. I have used the station a few times and often get caught out with the distance you have to walk to get the Galway train. There are not enough seats and they tend to be freezing (but I've yet to sit on a train station... Read more...

LATE

(30 September 2011)

Report

by: Cathy H. 5 out of 5

As train stations go this one does have character, but if you miss a train or are stuck there late at night waiting for a train on the cold chairs it can be fairly miserable place to be with nothing opened and having to pay to use the toilets. Customer service is good considering they uusally dont have a good reputation. Sky news is something to pass the time on big screens but more facilities or services added wouldnt go a miss... Building is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! It always seems to need a clean when I'm there especially the toilets. There is a few places for food but could have a better selection. Also there definately needs to be more seats judging from the past few times i have travelled through. There is the Luas which stops right outside it which is brilliant! ... Read more...

Heuston Station

Anytime I have used Heuston Station I have found the experience to be very satisfactory. My train has always seemed to run on time. It does get a bit like a cattle crush when they start boarding the train though because everyone for some reason tries to squeeze through the turnstyles at the same time. You would think the train is going to shoot off without them. I love the exterior of the building itself, it is interesting to look at.... Read more...

When I first started t use Heuston to travel to Galway I used to go on Friday evening, it was mental, the queues and it was hard to get a seat on the train. I now leave it till Saturday morning and find it 's much better and more comfortable for travelling. The station has much improved and you can arrive there by Luas, Train, Bus or Taxi so well catered with public transport. It's got a few shops and restaurant and book shop. It has improved over the years and is far nicer to visit now.... Read more...

This place has come a long way in the past few years. It is now a bright modern station with good facilities and services. As well as rail links to the west & south of ireland, it has commuter links to places like kildare but now it also has the luas link into the city centre. Its got a bar, a restaurant, easons, cafe togo for coffee, cakes & sandwiches, juice bar - everything you need for a train journey. The only downside is that you have to pay for toilet facilities - can be a... Read more...

heuston station is by far the easiest way to get to and from dublin, its minutes from the city centre were all the bargains are,the station itself has a couple of restuarants plus you can go in to the galway hooker for a nice relaxing drink or dinner which is devive and not overly priced, they have up to date time table screen so you know when the next avalable train back is,and there is an eason and magazine shop so you can have a read on the trip back!!! ... Located on Dublins southside, just opposite Dr. Stevens Hospital. Getting to and from this train station couldnt be easier now with the luas stop right outside. I love to catch a train from Connolly station, especially as you can now book your seat online so no longer have to queue ages in advance to secure a seat. The seating area and shopping area have all been done up and are great, thumbs up here ... Read more...

I use Heuston a couple of times a year when travelling out West and must say it does its job pretty well. There's a couple of places to grab some food and a couple of *expensive* shops inside also. Theres a nice bar/restaurant called the Galway Hooker inside which does lovely carvaries throughout the day and you can sit there while waiting for the train rather than on the cold platforms....
