I use to buy my second hand school books here.
(12 February 2012)

Before the Internet we used to head in to town to Waterstones and Hodges Figgis to do all our holiday/destinations research for free in both of these stores. I have to admit that we would spend an hour or so browsing through the various books to get the information about hotels, transport to and from, things to do etc. Of the two shops I preferred Waterstones. Maybe it was the brighter layout of the building or because I knew where everything was. They also had a nice coffee shop in the... Read more...

I'll never shop here again...

I used to really like Hodges Figgis and Waterstones (which was owned by the same people) until about a year ago.. While in Waterstones, I saw three books I wanted in 3 for 2 offer but I didn't have any money on me to buy them, so when my brother was going to town the next day, I asked him to pick them up for me. I assumed that if Waterstones had this offer, that Hodges Figgis would too, so asked my brother to get them in either and I gave him a One for All voucher to buy them with. When he got... Books Galore
(02 December 2011)
by: Rose F. 5 out of 5
I love this bookshop. They have a fabulous range in every area, the bargain basement downstairs has a large variety of classics and poetry, but also children's books, fiction and the occasional gift book. The ground floor has a massive range of fiction as well as a decent amount of sci-fi and fantasy, and a lot of Irish interest stuff. Their humour and graphic novels section are a tad limited, so I wouldn't make this your Plan A for either of those but that's aboutmy only complaint.... Read more...

Best in Dub
(01 November 2011)
by: Sam S. 5 out of 5
Without a doubt, this bookstore is the best in Dublin, for me anyway. It has multiple floors, a beautiful old wordly traditional layout. One of the things I love about it is the bargain section that it has downstairs allowing anyone to buy any realy good classsics or poems or whatever at a reduced price. The books are divided into different sections, and although expensive, they do a great student deal in which you collect stamps and it works out a little cheaper. Love this shop.... Read more...

Good, prefer Chapters for books though
(15 October 2011)
by: Sarah B. 4 out of 5
This place is quite handy, but it is in abit of an awkward location. The range is quite wide, but when I had a voucher for here, I found it quite hard to find something that was wortth buying. Though I do have to say they tend to have books that other places just wouldn't think to stock! They have a lovely range of fancy notebooks that would do as wonderful presents for the artistic person who likes to write in your life, but sadly the layout is a tad odd, cumbersome and horrible if you have... Best bookstore on the south side
(04 July 2011)
by: P A. 5 out of 5
Without a doubt this is the best bookstore in the south side. All the books are well organised and the local history section has an excellent choice that I have yet to see replicated elsewhere. The bargain basement is always worth a visit - you never know what you'll pick up on the cheap. Hodge Figgis also frequently have special prices on some of their books, so it's worth checking to see if the book you want is on offer. If you cant find what you are after the staff are more than happy to... Read more...

great place to spend time
(01 June 2011)
by: D C. 5 out of 5
I love to spend time here browsing through everything. It must be the best stocked bookstore. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The layout & displays are good & the location is very convenient. It has good bargain basement and I find the staff very helpful. It also has a loyalty card where you get a stamp for every 10 euro spent and when you have 10 stamps - you get a 10 euro voucher. As well as general interest books, it stocks a huge range of academic books. Yes its not the cheapest... Read more...

Very impressed
(28 April 2011)
by: Amanda M. 4 out of 5
My Dad was looking for a book he used to have years ago. I tried everywhere to get it until Hodges Figgis was recommended. Phoned them and they got back to me within 2 hours and ordered the book for me. The staff member could not have been more helpful. It was posted to me as soon as it was in stock, with updates from the shop when it was posted out to me. Very impressive and very professional.... Read more...

great
(20 April 2011)
by: Ella L. 4 out of 5
Located at the end of Dawson Street, Hodges Figgis is truly an excellent bookstore. It is a shame they don't have many places to sit and read or even a coffee shop but nonetheless you will still enjoy browsing to your hearts content and the staff are always willing and able to direct you to a particular section or even recommend a read according to your likes and dislikes.... Overpriced
(04 April 2011)
by: Nicky N. 2 out of 5
I'm not a big fan of Hodges Figgis at all, although I know a lot of people who love it. I don't really know why people love it so much, I think it's way too overpriced, and I can never find a good bargain at all. However, I can see that it's a nice place and is quiet and looks good. But that is not enough when you don't get good value for your money and you can go to one of it's competitors just as easily.... Read more...

The best bookshop
(28 March 2011)
by: Steve Z. 5 out of 5
Love this place. Have spent ages here, not always buying, which is nice because you're never rushed. The prices are standard, rarely do they have any good deals, but the range is fantastic and they'll order whatever you want. The traditional building is a great and apt setting for such a shop and the staff are extremely helpful without being overly so. I really hope this place doesn't go the way of Waterstones. If you're buying a book, buy here!... Read more...
