The perfect budgetary balance

What can I say, I love this place. Me and my friends go here a lot for simple reasons, the food is great, the atmosphere is just what we want, the location is convenient for town afterwards and its CHEAP. The menu is very varied which is rare these days with only so many niche restaurants (generic Italians, Chinese etc) so there's something for everyone. The food tastes great, the staff are lovely and you get more than what you pay for with a free bottle of wine with a meal for two. If its a... Read more...

So far so good

Nice place for coffee and a chat. They never seem to kick you out even if you don't buy very much and they do good soups, hot chocolates and mashed potatoes. The restaurant itself is cosy but still bright and you get enough space at your table. Nice service and reasonable prices in everything I've got- not sure how dinner is though but they seem to have alright early bird offers.... Read more...

Gem in Rathgar

Used to love dropping in here when I lived closer to Rathgar. The restaurant is small and cosy, so it's a lovely spot for tea. Also, I appreciate how even though it's a full restaurant, they don't care if you come in just to share a pot of tea and some scones- which, by the way, are lovely. Really delicious raspberry conserve and fresh cream served with hot sweet scones. You can sit here for hours and never get kicked out. Oh yes. Also tried more lunchy items like their delicious tomato soup,... Read more...

When I'm feeling peckish, in the mood for a coffee and want to go somewhere local Howards Way is always my first option. They're always busy and you may have to wait a while for a table, but the wait is worth it and the crowd creates a nice atmosphere. They serve delicious breakfasts that are available through lunch, they're about €9/10 but they keep you going for the day. They have a great vast selection of sandwiches, my favorite is the ham, cheese, onion and tomato melt on ciabatta... Read more...
