Nice.

Another great place to go for a breakfast if you are in the Rathgar area. Coming in at €9.50 for two eggs, grilled tomato, two bacon, hash brown and the dreaded beans. I just don't like beans with a breakfast. They also do an early bird menu, two courses with tea or coffee and complimentary bottle of wine per couple for €24.50. From 5.30 p.m. If you don't drink wine I don't know how they reduce the cost of this from their menu.... Read more...

A great spot to dine

I stumbled across this place a while back and keep returning. They strike a balance with quality and food and I like it. The brunches and breakfasts are mega and the weekend vibe is relaxed and easy going. I've dined here in the evening too and again enjoyed it. The satff are nice to the customers and really seem to appreciate the business. Keep up the good work guys.... Read more...

Great Restaurant

Howards way is an excellent restaurant for any occassion and meal. I have been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a great range on the menu as I have gone with some fussy eaters and everyone has been suited well. They also serve a nice coffee and cakes if you're not looking for a meal. The price is average, but worth it in comparison to the quality and portion size and the staff are very helpful. The layout of the restaurant is a little tight, once you've wiggled your way into... i must reccomend the howads way breakfast bap if you are in the area early on and wish to have a tasty meal on the go if you choose. it has two sausages two rashers and a fried egg on a toasted bap. it has to be tasted to be believed though and it really is gorgeous. you wont regret stopping off in here but your waistline might. that said there are also healthier options such as scrambled egg on toast.... The breakfast is just delicious and it is very reasonable. They have a good lunch and dinner menu too and the food is all wholesome, freshly made and tasty. It is a busy place. Well Done

Have been here a number of times only for breakfast, from €7.50 to €10. Very filling with lots of refills of tea or coffee. Salivating just at the thought of it. Located in Rathgar Village, nice pretty restaurant, quite small, but plenty of table and chairs. Everything is cooked to order, so nice and fresh. Busy place, but not noisy, so can have a good conversation without having to raise your voice. Friends have been here for their early bird, which they say was superb and good... Read more...

Excellent value

I have to say, this is a lovely little restaurant. I was recently at a birthday party here and the food was excellent, the service was very very good (and friendly) and the price extremely reasonable for this area. There were about 15 in our party but even though all other tables were fully booked, there were no problems with service, everyone was served together with no one left waiting. I could not recommend it enough... Read more...

excellent have to sy, punts itself mid level and approachable and is certainly all of that, menu always good, nice range, great wines at reasonable prices and specials and late breakfasts are well worth talking about, well above much of whats about really, and does't charge the higher prices of its near neighbour named after another south side region!... The perfect budgetary balance

What can I say, I love this place. Me and my friends go here a lot for simple reasons, the food is great, the atmosphere is just what we want, the location is convenient for town afterwards and its CHEAP. The menu is very varied which is rare these days with only so many niche restaurants (generic Italians, Chinese etc) so there's something for everyone. The food tastes great, the staff are lovely and you get more than what you pay for with a free bottle of wine with a meal for two. If its a... Read more...

Nice place for coffee and a chat. They never seem to kick you out even if you don't buy very much and they do good soups, hot chocolates and mashed potatoes. The restaurant itself is cosy but still bright and you get enough space at your table. Nice service and reasonable prices in everything I've got- not sure how dinner is though but they seem to have alright early bird offers.... Read more...

Gem in Rathgar

(01 April 2010)

Used to love dropping in here when I lived closer to Rathgar. The restaurant is small and cosy, so it's a lovely spot for tea. Also, I appreciate how even though it's a full restaurant, they don't care if you come in just to share a pot of tea and some scones- which, by the way, are lovely. Really delicious raspberry conserve and fresh cream served with hot sweet scones. You can sit here for hours and never get kicked out. Oh yes. Also tried more lunchy items like their delicious tomato soup,... Read more...
