Unique Cinema
(20 March 2012)
by: Ian s. 5 out of 5
Would agree with most of the other reviewers - this place is one of my favorite venues in town. It is by far the most intimate cinema in the city and is a totally different experience from the suburban cineplexes. Has a nice cafe/restaraunt where you can relax with a glass of wine before a film. There's also a shop at the entrance. If you haven't been you should check it out.... Read more...

Culture in Temple Bar
(17 November 2011)
by: Sarah-Anne B. 5 out of 5
This is simply a wonderful place for food; cinema; literature or a drink. The interior of the building is a lovely oasis of calm in the city and it is never over packed for too long. Primarily it is a cinema boasting a selection that is outside of blockbusters and actually actively encourages Irish film, being the Irish Film Institute. There is a bar nestled in the building that is just beautiful, though there are rarely offers to avail of and there is also a nice coffee where one can get a... Read more...

Arty Cinema
(12 October 2011)
by: Sarah B. 4 out of 5
This is quite a good cinema if you want to see something out of the mainstream. There are festivals on throughout the year and older films (such as Metropolitian) are usually on show. There are not a lot of screens unfortunately, but what they do have are spacious and lovely. There is a wonderful book store as you walk in and quite a nice bar on the left, unfortunately these are a little bit pricey. There is also a library attached to the cinema, alas you cannot take out the books, which on... Read more...

All Artsy
(13 September 2011)
by: Marshall K. 4 out of 5
THe IFI is great if you want a different sort of cinema experience. The movies they show are rarely the box office hits, more independent, documentaries and film festival winners. When you enter into the theatre, it was a white walled room with a projector and benches to sit on. This can be really fun but after an hour and a half long movie your rear end can get pretty sore. Ticket prices are a little cheaper than a normal cinema, around €6-7 a ticket. Its a good idea to check online or... Read more...

Great cinema
(23 August 2011)

Great cinema and so centrally located. Also can eat here. The food here is very reasonably priced and the service is generally quick as well. It's a great place to fill up before or after the movie. If you are a member, then you can get 10% off your food bill as well.... Read more...

Deadly
(29 July 2011)
by: Oisin L. 4 out of 5
This is a deadly little cinema. Similar price to the other cinemas in town plus you can become a member and get discounts. They show films that the other cinemas can't be bothered to show, so you get to see some really cool films. The place is very intimate, only 20-50 seats in some of the rooms, but still with large screens (unlike a certain cinema in town), it makes you feel like you are in a big living room.... Read more...

been twice, Tickets around the same price as normal cinema, worth going to go and see and doing a film review. They do alot of courses here as well I heard. Not sure though how much they are. Ring thebox office and they will fill you in. Also not that this institute is not open at regular hours so you would have to check first to see when there open. Lovely building ... Read more...

The IFI cinema is located in Eustace Street in Temple Bar.It boasts two nice sized cinema screens, and all the admission prices are under €10.Keep your eyes out for the French film festival which always has interesting movies- especially handy if you are studying French at University as it helps with the cultural aspect of the language. There is also a lovely cafe / bar in here where people meet up.... Read more...

The IFI cafe is a great place to meet up with your friends for quick lunch or dinner. I love the food there and it's also very reasonably priced, food portion are really good and filling, falafel in pitta is really yummy. They are also very kids friendly and happy to accomodate you. My partner once got his breakfast plate with way over salted poached eggs and they changed everything with no hassle, quickly and politely. The cinema is a great place to watch non-comercial movies and old movies,... Read more...

IFI CINEMA
(13 March 2011)
by: Maurice John D. 5 out of 5
This is a great place to see those independent/arty/foreign films that the mainstream cinemas can't/won't show, and you can bring along a couple of friends as well. Another plus is the fact you can have a bite to eat and a beer/wine/coffee/tea as well (use your ifi card to get discounts on food&drink).... Read more...

Different.

The Film Centre in Temple Bar's cultural quarter is a great place to see a film away from the mainstream. There isn't that much to do on a rainy evening if you don't want to drink so this is a great haven to spend a few hours. There are 3 screens and the seats are pretty comfy. The range of films are more artier and less mainstream like Curzon Soho etc in London It has a nice warm friendly atmosphere. The coffee tables outside are like a terrace, the shop has plenty of posters, cards and... Read more...

Good movies, great shop
(17 February 2011)
by: Lisa C. 4 out of 5
The IFI is a great for pleasant cinema veiwing. Nice atmosphere, great movie selection. The cinemas are kept clean and comfy too. Lunch menu is resonable and very tasty for quick bite (and you can use your members card for discount!) Last time i was there the cinema did get a little stuffy so think they need to sort out the aircon a bit. The shop is a hidden gem to most people, reall good interesting dvd selection and the guy that works in there knows everything there is to know about foreign... Read more...
