Changed but not for the better
(04 May 2012)
by: Noel E. 3 out of 5
I used to love this pub when I lived in Donnybrook but I called recently after a long absence and was very disappointed, it has lost all its charm and was filled with strangers watching football and roaring their heads off. There were no seat to be had and barely standing room. I had a pint of the black stuff and it was good but that was the only thing I liked. Maybe my expectations were too high and too far back in the past.... Read more...

Kielys

This was another pub that we frequented in our youth basically the last century wel thats what it feels like. It was great then for slipping in and having a few drinks even though we were underage and this added an extra buzz to the evening. The barman was great I think he knew we were all underage but never did anything about it unless the boss was around and threw us all out and when he left we all came back in again, great fund and games. Went for a drink there recently and we also had a... Read more...

Pub for the rugger
(11 April 2011)
by: Paul L. 4 out of 5
I used to visit here a lot in my college days when there was a big rugby match on. The place would be buzzing and being so close to Donnybrook stadium it would always be packed and lively. The food here is something that I think is underestimated. Get in here a couple of hours before kick off, order some food, have a few jars and watch the atmosphere build around you.... Read more...

Decent Pub
(21 February 2011)
by: Jude R. 3 out of 5
Kielys, as many people may know is the spiritual home for Leinster rugby. Great place for a pint, and always has a fantastic atmosphere for game day. Also great to have TV screens in the windows facing onto the smoking area so you can have a pint and a cigarette while watching the match. This is a place my friends and I went to just about every week while I was studying at UCD. Aside from the rugby association and the fact that it just gets way too packed in here on match days, it’s a... Read more...

Okay
(03 February 2011)

They do some excellent sandwiches in here which is the only real positive I can bestow upon the place. It's a pretty generic ordinary pub. It's definitely the pride of Donnybrook in terms of live rugby, which is fair enough, but I wouldn't be seen within a mile of it on matchday. A good daytime establishment for a few crafty Guinnesses during the day I would say.... Read more...

Good Rugby pub
(26 January 2011)
by: Ian s. 4 out of 5
Kielys is a good spot for a few pints before or after rugby games,Its packed to the rafters for internationals and Leinster matches. Has an element of the D4 brigade but if you can live with this its not a bad spot. Always a friendly feel to the bar with plenty of slagging and friendly banter. The pints are excellent and the all day food menu isn't bad either. Much quieter place during the week but still a nice place for a pint and a yap.... Read more...

Kiely's
(07 January 2011)
by: Oisin L. 3 out of 5
this pub is your typical match day pub. It is pretty average on a normal day of the week, but as soon as a rugby game is on (especially if it is at Donnybrook), then this place livens up. I always come here before a match, as it serves a great pint of Guinness. It can get jammers though so it is best to arrive early ig you want a seat. Staff are friendly and it is in a great location.... Read more...

This pub is not as good as it used to be, it used to be a great place to hang out any night of the week but now they don't get a big crowd. it is ok at the weekends and Friday night in particular is usually busy and there is a good atmosphere. They get a great rugby crowd and it is always mad busy on match days. It is convenitntly located in Donnybrook village. ... Read more...

Beside Bective.
(16 December 2010)

This was a great pub back in the 70's when no one else would serve us alcohol. Not that we were under age but just looked it! It was located just up the road from Bective where dances were held at the weekend. Today it still has a great rugby crowd that packs out the bar after matches. With food served all day and free WiFi it is a waterhole worth considering if in that neck of the woods. http://www.kielysofdonnybrook.ie/... Read more...

Good Pub Food
(16 September 2010)
by: May O. 3 out of 5
Stopped in here for a quick lunch with a friend and enjoyed it. I had the goats cheese salad which was delicious. The cheese was served on bread and the salad was varied, full of flavour and a decent size. I would have liked it if the menu had given the option of having this meal as a main course as it was too big for a starter and yet too small for a main course. It was certainly excellent standard for pub food though it wasn't cheap. It was very quiet during Friday afternoon so there wasnt much...
