early bird

A nice enough restaurant not far from the Shelbourne Hotel and down a few steps. We opted for the early bird menu €26+ with lots of choices for starter, main course and dessert. Really good food and well presented and delicious. La Mere Zou offer French cuisine. The food and service were excellent and we will definitely be back. ... Read more...

Great atmosphere, great food, great service.

Myself and my husband had the early bird menu in la Mere Zou a few weeks ago. I was a bit skeptical as other reviews online had said the early bird portions were small, the atmosphere was rushed and that everything cost extra. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. This is a classic restaurant, with creative and tasty food, fantastic service and a warm but lively atmosphere. The quality of La Mere Zou is evident in every aspect - the food, the presentation, the service and the... Read more...

Authentic French Food at it's Best

(02 September 2010)

Dont be expecting starched white linen and fresh flowers, rather expect a welcoming, traditional restaurant where the food simply speaks for itself. My boyfriend and I went for the early bird here recently and I have to admit it was super. La Mere Zou are pros when it comes to delivering exciting but traditional French fare in a laid back atmosphere. The staff are French, the dining area cosy but unpretentious and everything is made on site, from the bread to the black pudding and those... Read more...

I dined here last Saturday night and had a 5 star meal. My rib-eye steak was cooked to perfection! The food was flawless and the wine superb. There is a lovely atmosphere in this restaurant. It has a bit of a French theme going on and the live jazz act really added to out enjoyment of the place. The staff were lovely and treated us like royalty. Give it a whirl. Ideal for a romantic date. ... Read more...

recession friendly

This is one of the few affordable upscale restaurants in Dublin. They specialise in French cuisine and they do it well. The staff are all french so there is a very authentic vibe to the place. The decor is simple and rustic, and reminds one of french countryside living, with generous cheeseboards dished out on an unadorned block of wood. Just simple, good and authentic. The service is definitely 5 star, and the staff are very attentive. They've brought their prices down since the recession and... Read more...

One of the best restaurants for a romantic french atmosphere. The food is delicious, very simple and french, and constantly good every time I visit. It is a little bit pricey, especially when you factor in the wine, but it is absolutely worth it for a treat, Perfect for that special a date! ... Read more...

Not Great

Went there for early bird, and we had to grab something else to eat on the way home as the portions were minuscules. Food was delicious but you need your glasses to find it in your plate. It was an early bird but it worked out expensive. ... Read more...

Went here with my mum a while ago for the early bid menu without pre-booking a table. The waitress was extremely helpful in trying to fit us in. The food was very tasty but the portions were really small which makes early bird a little off putting. I would definetly recommend ordering some sides because you'd be still hungry with the mains. ... Read more...

Would rather not be offered 'offers' like this

We went to La Mere Zou for dinner in the middle of July. There were 6 of us and we went for the special 3 course dinner for €26. We didn't have a huge amount of wine, but yet we walked out of there spending €62 each. It left me with such a bad taste in my mouth that I would not go back again. I was nearly going to write to the manager and tell him that he'd be better off not doing offers like that as it causes negative effects. When we came in and were waiting for all of... Read more...
