Good Ole Fashioned Pub
(27 February 2011)
by: Jenny M. 5 out of 5
For anyone who likes to find a good Irish pub you need look no further than Mulligans. Although it may not be as well known as its contemporaries like Kehoes, it serves a pint that is just as good as the rest. It is fairly big inside and gets quite busy so finding a seat (if thats your thing) on a Friday night might not be easy. It has standard prices for Dublin city, not more expensive than other places but certainly not cheaper either. Any time I have been there I have found the staff to be... Read more...

Great atmosphere
(04 December 2010)
by: Lucy M. 5 out of 5
Went there on Friday night and it was packed. There were many people from offices from around. Most importantly, like in the reviews below, the pub serves great pints of Guinness, definitely worth to try. Otherwise, prices are alright and location is excellent for those travelling from Tara train station, because it is just few steps away. Really old Dubllin pub.... Read more...

Old Dublin Pub that serves a great pint
(26 August 2010)
by: Paul B. 4 out of 5
When my older brother comes home from working abroad Mulligans is where he insists on heading for his first pint of Guinness back in Ireland. He usually drags mise along and thats fine by me. Although the Guinness has got a lot more consistent in many pubs, there's still a few that stand out and this is definitely one of them - heavenly creamy pint. Always busy in here, great place to go for a decent yap with a few mates, nothing pretentious, just a real old Dublin pub. ... Read more...

I dont know where some of you are getting your 4 and 5 stars.Get up out of that garden.Heres the thing with mulligans. You go somewhere to spend your hard earned and you go in here to get a short arsed gobshite with a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp that obviously feels like the whle world is against him. What a load of crap.Leave it at home mate or just get another job.Ok the pint of guinness is very good and it is a comfortable place to have a pint once its not packed with some, it has to be... Fantastic Pint
(09 March 2010)
by: mark s. 4 out of 5
As Stated in other reviews Mulligans has been around for almost an eternity - it is a Dublin institution. The crowd is a great mix of students, journos and office types. Decor is shabby and hasn't changed in yonks but sure thats part of the experience . No background radio or tv - just lively banter and craic. Anyone looking for a good pint of Guinness will find this place hard to beat. Forgot to mention that the bar staff are excellent.... Read more...

Drinking With The Ghosts Of Past Times- Established 1782
(08 March 2010)
by: Nigel D. 4 out of 5
This pub is one of the famous originals, formally licensed in 1782 (as it says over the door)and apparently a shebeen for years before that- not fancy, but with oodles of history and atmospjhere-the snugs etc-the same way it was long , long, long ago (obviously with modern safety and bar technology behind those old wooden fittings!). A great atmospheric place to meet friends for a great 'pint of porter' or a glass of wine for that matter, and a haunt of literary and dramatic types for... Read more...

Where everybody knows your name
(31 January 2010)
by: Laura B. 5 out of 5
I was lucky enough to work opposite Mulligans for two years and in that time I built quite the rapport with the bar staff, but the best thing is that it doesn't take two years for them to get to know you, your drink and everything about you. The best thing about Mulligans is the staff. The same crew have been there for years and years and they really make an effort with all the customers, new and old. The bar is a typical old man's bar equipped with fireplace, wooden stools and tables, antique... Read more...

Best pint contender
(28 January 2010)
by: michelle m. 4 out of 5
Mulligan's is one of the most famous pubs in Dublin and rightly so. It's been around since 1854 and over time has mastered the art of the great pint. It was mentioned in James Joyce's Ulysses, as Joyce was a regular of the pub and Mulligans still draws in Irish celebrities of the more cerebral type, actors, musicians etc (Stephen Rea, Ralph Fiennes and Snowpatrol are just some of the folks I've seen in there). It's a traditional Irish pub, the decor probably hasn't been changed in fifty years... Read more...

Very good pint - and the bar man knows it
(29 September 2009)
by: Tom H. 4 out of 5
There isn't a whole lot wrong with Mulligans. I had been here a number of times before becoming a research scientist on a quest to find the best pint in Dublin. Previously though I had never ventured beyond the front bar which has plenty of charm but a few too many punters. The back bar was lively with a good post-work crowd who had got well stuck in by the time we arrived and there was a big table free which was a bonus. The verdict on the pint - well poured, good temperature and rich colour... Read more...

Not on par with a Mulligan
(29 September 2009)
by: Christian H. 3 out of 5
Don't get me wrong, Mulligan's do a nice pint of Guinness. Unfortunately it's just that, a nice pint. In my opinion it was too cold, and left a slight bitterness afterwards. The pub itself is fantastic. Hidden away in the back there's a whole world that could go unnoticed if you didn't venture inside for a look. The staff are true Dubs and will be happy to wind you up just for the craic. So remember, don't be scared to give it just as good as you got.... Read more...

Guinness Is Good (4U)
(28 September 2009)
by: Niall M.

Ah Yeah. Heading to Mulligans for a pint of Guinness is very enjoyable. A sociable one mind, when it's crowded it's generally with the type of people you'd want to stand at bus stops with, rather than see at a party. Also the barman can apparently smoke really fast and is fiercely proud of his Guinness, also apparently knows something about oriental Guinness which I don't (see video). Although he can be grumpy and unhelpful. I don't think Arthur envisioned his stout being served by smiley... Read more...
