I love this place. Perfect for a day out with the family. My daughter absolutely enjoys going there and is always begging me to go back. The family packs they are handing out at the information desk are great. You follow a trail and have a clipboard with some questions for the kids. Brilliant idea! And I do have to day the best of it? It's free! There is often an exhibition on for which you have to pay but most of the arts gallery is free entry. Fantastic - would definately recommend!... Read more...

So you are not what you would call an art buff and feel that you do nor perhaps belong here but be not afraid.. you could just give it a try and might be impressed. The gallery shop is a great place for presents for kids if they like make and do books. They also have a great cafe which is reasonably priced and beautiful high airy celings. The food is very tast y and nutricious quite like Avoca. ... Read more...

The National Gallery is a fantastic amenity and I could spend hours roaming around it. The general exhibition area is free though they do charge an entrance fee for special show which to be fair are usually worth paying extra for. I love the portrait room and the Jack Yeats room is also special but it is worth spending a while looking around as there is something for everyone. The book shop is also excellent and is a great place to buy gifts and there is a good choice of food and drink in the... Read more...

I finally got the chance to go see the National Gallery of Ireland it was amazing! For the free entry I do not understand why more people don't go. I was so impressed by how nice the staff was and how easy it was to get to. All of the artwork is beautiful and I spent hours looking at everything. On my way out I grabbed a coffee from the cafe and it was delicious. A perfect ending to my day spent looking at some of the best art work I have ever seen. If you live in Dublin or visiting this place... Read more...

National Pride

With the current economic situtation, im suprised that more people haven’t visited the National Gallery. There’s very little in this world that is free and we should do our best to get maximum value from what is. The gallery itself has a very spacious and airy feel to it due to the design of the building. It houses some of Jack B Yeats and Caravaggio paintings as well as many more. Theres are also cheapish postcard of some of the paintings which you can purchase as a memento. Its... Read more...

Its such a good attraction in Dublin city centre, its free in which I find is unusual for any gallery, the collections are amazing and there is a great amount of Irish culture throughout the gallery. Worth the visit

I am appalled when I hear of people who are living in Dublin but have yet to visit the Nationnal Art Gallery. It is a tribute in Dublin City centre, Above all it's free entry. Who could complain? One doesn't need to be interested in art to pay this museum a visit. After your visit, I gaurentee that you will have learned something. The Millenium Wing is a beautiful new wing, with incredably high ceilings, which adds to the feeling of space in the gallery. The gallery is well-lit using natural... Read more...

very nice building, and even though some of the more popular exhibitions have an entrance fee there is usually something to see that is free. I really like the book shop in there too. I could spend hours in the bookshop just looking at all the amazing books of artists and artwork, No matter what types of art you are into you will find a book to suit your interest. I recommend people to pop in next time you are passing by... Read more...

Its Free! and always nice to visit once in a while, never get tired of the some of the paintings here, especially de Goyas 'Doña Antonia Zárate' , Caravaggios 'The Taking of Christ' and of course the Jack B Yates exhibition...which is truly amazing and never fail to stay longer each time. If you do have the time, drop in, the cafe is also easy going place to relax with some friends afterwards...particularly outside of the peak tourist seasons! ... Read more...
