As Good and as Authentic as Ever!!

First reviewed this positively over 2 years ago -and it is still old worldy, full of charm and character, and serves exceptional rare beef and salmon (fresh or smoked) sandwiches and salads for very reasonable amounts. Beef sandwich (best rare beef in town) costs less than €4, and a pot of mustard and horseradish is always put on the table.Salmon is sourced daily from Wrights of Howth , and if you haven't tried the fresh salmon sandwiches here (I like mine with salad cream)----then you... Neary's

This is a great pub always a brilliant atmosphere and good crowd. Plenty of comfortable seating and even some TV screens outside with a covered canopy sectioned off area at the entrance I suppose for the smokers. Nice old traditional bar with lots of character and you can't miss it with the big hands holding the lamps on the outside as you enter. Perfectly located just off Grafton Street and is nice for a quiet drink and good conversation. Good drink and cosy.... Read more...

Super pub

This is easily one of my favourite pubs in town -it's so much more atmospheric than the nearby refurbished bars. It's divided into two sections and also has an upstairs bar. It's traditionally a pub for theatrical types - given its proximity to the back door of the Gaiety Theatre. The bar staff are excellent, old-style bar staff who have been there for years and are able to handle more than one drinks order at once - which is unfortunately becoming rare enough nowadays. The interior is cosy... Read more...

Grand

Good location, just off Grafton street. Neary's have two areas, downstairs and upstairs. I stayed in a downstairs part, which was cosy, and very granny home like. Pints were nice, and service was quick and excellent. There was always a person walking around and taking empty glasses, so they didn't pile up on tables. Prices are alright, the usual town prices. ... Read more...

Great for a pint and the papers

(30 September 2010)

Neary's is a great spot to spend the afternoon, sipping creamy pints and losing yourself in a book or the papers. It reminds me of my granny's living room (in a good way!) , welcoming, warm, with a tasty sandwich never too far from grasp. Not the cheapest for pints - a pint and a half came to €7.80 - although admittedly i'll pay it again for the atmosphere.... Read more...

Great pints

Nearys is an old style pub just off Grafton Street. Theres a real Edwardian feel to the place - glass lampshades at the door entrance, fine bar and comfortable seating. Its a great place to go for a few pints and some good conversation - no televisions or music. The pints are creamy and delicious and the atmosphere is always great. Tends to be a bit of an older crowd in comparison to nearby pubs.... Read more...

Old World at Great Prices

Neary's is a piece of Dublin that has generally long-since disappeared. It reeks of history even before you enter the door, and it is authentic , the 'real deal'. Food is unpretentious, but ever so tasty and nourishing- fresh salmon or beef sandwiches are a meal in themselves, at €6 and €4.50 respectively. A lovely place to reminisce and meet a friend over a Guinness or glass of wine, Staff are professional and friendly and I think some of the barmen have been there for their... Read more...
