Great station

(16 November 2011)

Newstalk 106 would be always in my top 3 stations along with RTE1 and Today FM, in no particular order. I really enjoy Sean Moncrieff and his daily offerings along with the Parent Supplement they do. I listen to George Hook most days and the Breakfast show most mornings. Always fresh and up to date and good music is played too. Some stations have the same line up of songs on repeat which I find unbearable. ... Read more...

i really like newstalk 106fm and would listen to some of the shows every day, my favs are the lunchtime show from 12-1.30 and sean moncrief on from 1.30-4.30. to be honest those are the only shows i listen to as i dont like the right hook or their other offerings, im a today fm - matt cooper girl for the evening show. thats a personal thing though and other than that its a great station!... I really enjoy this station. I think Newstalk is great for the interviews. Some of the presenters are very good and really know how to ask the questions that some presenters are afraid to ask. Sarah Carey and Talking Point is good and have some interesting discussion and Ivan and Chris on the breakfast is excellent. Tom Dunne is interesting and I love when people ring in and have their say. Nice lively station and nice for a change.... Read more...

Moncrieff Moncrieff Moncrieff, i love his show though i don't always get time to listen. I love the text messages and the fun way he plays around with them, the movies and booze section on a Friday is always good where they discuss the latest films while they drink wine or beer. Overall i really like Newstalk. I joined up for their surveys through email and i fill in a quick survey of around 5 questions every now and then and they read out the results on the air so they are really getting the... This is a great station. I do put it on during the day to listen to the news and hear all the latest up dates. Its always up to date with the news and unlike other stations it gives good details of news and events in stead of just a few lines. Really great as I say for up to date information it's better than watching out for the news on the telly and is repeated all through the day... Read more...

Great Radio Station!

This is a great factual radio station. Lots of talk from people in the know and witty banter between panelists. It is well worth tuning into. I'm very fond of Ivan Yates and his buddies in the morning. The news itself might not be great but they deliver it well and keep listeners across the country entertained. They hold brilliant competitions on air too with deadly prizes. I'm not forgetting our man George Hook, always good for a laugh too.... Read more...

Newstalk 106 FM would be my father's radio station of choice, as it has all the information on current affairs and such matters like that. I'm not sure if they still play French radio for an hour in the morning, 8am to 9 am, but when I was in University studying French this was my one and only reason for tuning in, it was so handy to have a full hours French Radio to help with speaking the language.... Listen to this radio station all the time when I am in the car travelling around the country. Couldn’t stand Moncreif before listening to this station, now I think he has a good show and has some very interesting discussions on. The show is a mix of news and current affairs but it’s also very entertaining. Tom Dunne is good don’t like George Hook, think he likes the sound of his own voice too much. The Off The Ball sports show the best. ... Read more...

I love newstalk as its just different to anything else offered on the Irish airwaves. They have some genuinely interesting debates. What attracts me though is their sports coverage and analysis. Generally its of great detail, a high standard and the views are coming from people who actually know what they are talking about and are respected in their fields. Off the Ball is the best show on it for me.... Read more...

Newstalk has been a breath of fresh air since comin on the airwaves a few years ago. I thought their election coverage was the best and most indepth of any station and was definitely the most objective. Dunphy is just brilliant on Sundays and they just seem to have the best current affairs programmes on radio. Their sports coverage is great too, love Off the Ball. Discuss topics and air views that some of the conventional stations shy away from.... Read more...

I'm a big fan of this station. So many of the other popular stations play irritating music and I'd much prefer to listen to the presenters talking. It's been great coming up to the elections as there is a lot of unbiased, accessible coverage. They cover a wide variety of topics and issues, from the very light-hearted to much more serious. I'm not a huge George Hook fan but I do like his show. The breakfast show is easily the best one around.... Read more...

ok as news stations go this one isn't the worse... there are a few laughs thrown in the odd time in comparison to RTE1. also since the channel has broadened from dublin becoming available nationwide id say there is a huge growth in listenership. If i was in my 40s and into the news id love this channel., but im not so i dont like it ... Read more...
