Still Very Good

(25 April 2012)

Last reviewed this positively over 2 years ago -it is still as good and as authentic as ever! Food provenance is excellent. My favourite lunch dish (now €22) is the minestrone soup and scampi & chips option ------nobody else does scampi like these people -----you have to try it to believe it! House wine varieties are good and tasty -and the desserts- cassata, liquer infused sponge cake, ice cream---are sublime! Oldest restaurant in Dublin next year-50 years in business (I've been... Nicos Restaurant is amazing, I came here with my partner last year after some really great reviews from friends. It has a genuine authentic Italian feel to it and the food was amazing. I am a big wine fan and thought their choices were limited, but the quality was above standard. The staff are excellent and made us feel very welcome. It comes as no suprise that the restaurant has done so well over the years.... Read more...

Nicos

This was a favourite place of my brothers, and he introduced me to Nicos a few years ago. He had always raved about the place, so I thought I would try it, and he was right this restaurant is wonderful. it's everything a good restaurant should aspire too, very good food in a relaxed atmosphere. Wine list is small but of high quality. They had a re-fit last year, and they did a good job. This restaurant has been here for decades and it continues to be popular. Service and staff are always... If you love great food you really need to check out Nicos. It is the ulitmate in old school authentic Italian cuisine and the atmosphere is second to none. It's ideal for a romantic dinner or a family celebration. The staff are fantastic, really friendly and you'll always leave feeling really well looked after. The reason the food has remained so good over the years is because the head chef has been there for over 30 years and has kept the standards consistently high. The fish is always super... Have been going here since 1979 and it's as good as ever! The decor is a kind of velvety old worldy, even though it was refurbished completely not that long ago(thankfully, it looked exactly the same-albeit a bit fresher- after the job was done). My favourite at lunchtime here. is the combo of minestrone soup(exceptional) , followed by scampi and chips-they are to die for-NOBODY in Dublin , to my knowledge, does scampi the way they do it in Nico's . At lunchtime , if you happen to linger a... Read more...

A Valentine's Dinner

(14 February 2010)

Report

I passed by this restaurant so many times and was always intrigued by it. It's like a little secret Italian. I went there for a Valentine's dinner last year an it was absolutely perfect. It is intimate, with decor reminiscent of the early 1900s. It's quite cool. The food is quite expensive (so my boyfriend told me at least) but is definitely worth it. The pasta dish I had was gorgeous and the boyf's steak was cooked to perfection. They have a pianist play here which really adds to the romantic... Read more...

Love, Love , Love Nicos! Did you know Nicos was the first Italian restaurant in Dublin (well besides the old unicorn at the side of Trinity college but thats splitting hairs). Without boring you, my first glass of wine was drank in Nicos....the rest is history. For feel good nights out that are special I cannot recommend Nicos enough, you always feel like you are in a Sorcese movie and that brando could be in the corner with his chin out.....If you like that kind of thing. The food is always... Read more...
