Truly home cooked food, coming to Poppies is like going to your grandmothers for lunch. Whether your stopping for a tea and a naughty cake or a full on lunch of their famous Poppies Chicken (The dish contains cornflakes don't ask but it works) you can rest assured your taste buds will be satisfied. I love going for sunday drives with my family as it's the only day of the week when were all together. Last week we went to Gorey and on the way down we passed through this town and decided to call in to this restaurant for lunch as there wasn't much other choice. We went in and got seated straight away. Our order was taken and shortly after our drink's were brought down to us. Folled shortly was our food. Great for a Sunday afternoon

This little cafe in the heart of Enniskerry village has been there for as long as I remember. It's small and cosy and there's often a wait for tables on a Sunday afternoon. The food is all freshly made and absolutely delicious. Over the years I must have sampled nearly everything on the menu. They have great quiches, sandwiches and panini, as well as more substantial fare like lasagne and hot chicken dishes. Poppies in Enniskerry village has been there for some time. It is located in Enniskerry village which in itself is worth a visit as it is such a pretty village with a few shops and restaurants and Powerscourt House and Gardens are nearby. The food is always lovely and homemade. It is a very popular little restaurant and can get quite full very quickly. Rhubarb Crumble. MMmmm!

The original cafe, located right in the middle of Enniskerry village. This is a place to return to after a long walk in the nearby forest parks for a slice of Rhubarb crumble and fresh cream.
