This is a chip shop where I have never been during the day time! It's one of the few remaining 'proper' chippers in the city centre and one of the best for that late night soakage that we all need sometimes. There's always a very friendly vibe here amongst the drunken revellers and the craic can be mighty. Seating is at a premium so you may end up eating your curry chips while sitting on a stranger's lap. Delicious chips, much nicer than you'd get anywhere else at that hour.... Read more...

I used to go here years ago after a night out at Mono or some other Camden street place! They do a good garlic/cheesy/curry chips (not all together!) although more recently I think that they are probably more famous for being the chipper in the “think contraception” ad on TV for Drink aware hahahah! I can see myself dropping in here after a night out, although they do have a fair amount of competition from Charlies across the road and not to mention the Disco Chipper a few doors... Read more...

Roma II is another one of those chippers that only really gets buzzing at 4 in the morning as people stumble out of Whelan's and The Palace. The place has seating, which inevitably fills with hungry drunks, and the club is basically reborn. The food is cheap, tasty and greasy. BUT it is available, which is the most important thing at 4 am. I also like that they have veggie burgers on the menu which many chippers neglect.... Read more...

Roma II, being one of those not-too-common chippers with seating, offers all sorts of opportunities for banter, chat, badinage, discourse and whatever you're having yourself. Always full of revellers from Wexford st and Camden St who are unable or unwilling to allow the night to end, Roma II is one of best places to go for greasy food accompanied with strangers' drunken blather. There comes a time in every young man's life where a growing disenchantment with the deep fat-frying trade comes to a head, and he just has to lash out against the grease.
