Shanahans on the Green

(29 July 2011)

Report

by: Deborah B. 5 out of 5

Visited this restaurant for lunch on a Friday. Whole experience was great. Staff, decor, food, ambiance, service, attention to detail were all excellent. Expected it to be a little 'stuffy' but this was not the case. Our waiter made us feel very welcome but also knew when to hang back and leave us alone. Prices are quite high but given the overall experience, it is worth saving up for! ... Read more...

Fantastic Service

(26 May 2011)

Report

I thought this place was going to be a bit stuffy and over the top but I had a fantastic evening here. Very expensive but for a special occasion I'd say it's worth it. The food was amazing. The restaurant itself looks really well. The staff are fantastic, ultra polite and great at what they do. If I could afford it I'd come here more often, it's just a shame it costs so much... lovely but pricey

(16 January 2011)

Report

by: martin d. 4 out of 5

this is a beautiful resturant but it is very pricey indeed. we did get an early bird as such here for forty five euro and got the soup the steak and the chocolate foundant for dessert. the service charge is not included so you are paying ninety euro before any drinks or tips. still very much worth going as a treat but i dread to think how much a normal meal would come to!... This restaurant is excellent. i have eaten here a few times and have always had a great meal. the restaurant is very well laid out and your table is a good distance fro m the next one so more privacy. the seating is so comfortable. the staff are excellent and they present you with freshly made breads on arrival their steaks are delicious and their portions massive. Expensive but worth it!... Read more...

Great Steaks

(22 September 2010)

Report

by: Roisin S. 3 out of 5

Okay so I know in the title it says great stakes and I only gave three stars, but this is because even though the stakes are delicious, and the portion sizes are huge, oh and thhe cheese cake is to die for (best cheesecake I've ever had) the prices are astronomical, you can really only afford this for very special occasions only.... Pretentious Land

(22 August 2010)

Report

by: S C. 3 out of 5

For pretentious people with sack loads of money to flush down the toilet! Seriously expensive and not worth it! Again food is good but the mark up esp on the wines & champagnes is unbelieveable. Irish people must be really be thick to keep this place in business. A place to be seen spending your wads.I dropped my napkin at one stage and before I had time to pick it up it was whisked away from me & a new one brought back between two silver spoons! Honestly it's far from silver spoon... Read more...

Do they know about the recession?

(18 August 2010)

Report

by: Aoibheann S. 1 out of 5

My boyfriend booked a table in Shanahans as a treat for my birthday on Saturday. The table was booked for 7 but he was told that we would have to be out by 9. Now I know that this restaurant has a good reputation but I do not appreciate having to pay big money for a meal and then gulping it down to free up a table for someone else. Needless to say the Shanahans plan was abandoned and we dined elsewhere. Do they know about the recession or have they heard of customer service?... Read more...

Best steakhouse in Dublin

(08 March 2010)

Report

by: mark s. 4 out of 5

Shanahan is essentially an American steakhouse situated on Stephens Green. The quality of the steak (all Aberdeen angus)is superb. Have only been twice but found the whole service to be first class on both occasions. The restaraunt is impeccably laid out - the oval office bar is perfect for a pre or post meal drink. The ambience is romantic and you feel you are somewhere special. Quite expensive but definitely worth it for a special occasion. ... Read more...

Went with the wife last week, best steak I have ever tasted......Shanahans is doing a 3 course, special with tea or coffee, for 55 EURO, INCLUDES FILLET STEAK....Normally you would pay that just for the steak...without veg etc. Dont know how long the offer is on for so go now ASAP....Worth it alone for the experience... Over priced and living off former glories

(20 August 2009)

Report

by: Freddy S. 2 out of 5

I have visited here a few times and on my last visit recently I was disappointed. The prices are still high and this time the service was average. I send back my steak because it was COLD and my colleague had to do the same with their main course also. The surroundings etc are very nice and if you get a good serving team you may have an enjoyable meal however this is a long way from value for money and you get the feeling they are living on former glories from a different era. ... Everything it was expect to be

(30 July 2009)

Report

Everytime I pick up the in flight mag on Aer lingus I always see JFK's rocking chair in the Shanahans advert. So rather than wonder what this place was like, I took the plunge last week when my wallet had something in it. This is a 5 star restaurant and although a bit stuffy and not my usual taste, we still were well impressed. The onion mash is a definite recommendation, but you have to get it with the steak. Before you get comfortable have a drink or two in the basement bar so getting in you... Read more...
