Lots of Character but you pay for it!

The hotels location cannot be faulted it is close to Green Luas line right in the centre of Dublin basically on Grafton Street's doorstep and some fabulous restaurants around it. The restauarant within the hotel we ate in and had the early bird menu as it was a little cheaper! The food was not up the standard I had hoped although there was not much choice due to the menu we chose to eat off, it seems overly fussy and I am a fan of modern and new food and chefs that try new things. But I... Read more...

A lovely five star hotel located on St. Stephens Green. Nice toiletries in a lovely marble bathroom. Spacious bedroom. Breakfast at €30 very expensive so opt for room only and eat in the nearby St. Stephens Green shopping centre or along Merrion Row for a fraction of the price. The bar is a famous meeting place for business people. A lot of the rooms do not have any view except for the rooms to the front. If that bothers you then head off elsewhere.... Read more...

Lovely hotel but couldn't afford to stay the night there. heard the rooms are ment to be lovely. Went in for dinner and a drink one Christmas eve it was lovely there, would be the nicest hotel I was ever in. Found them very expensive I'm sure though there prices have came down with the recession I have not been here in a while but would love to go back some day for lunch... Read more...

The Shelbourne is a landmark in terms of what Dublin has to offer. It has been around for many years. It's a special hotel and very glamorous situated opposite St Stephens Green Park. Recently renovated but it still retains it's beautiful charm and style. Lovely hotel for afternoon tea, or just coffee and scone, very relaxing and wonderful for watching all the comings and goings of a popular hotel. ... Read more...

Steeped in Irish History, this beauifully restored hotel is a true Dublin gem. Situated overlooking St Stephens Green, it oozes style while at the same time offering the finest service and welcomes that dublin has traditionally been known for.Tastefully furnished and decorated, it's a haven for anyone who wants somewhere to stay that will afford them true five star treatment...well worth a visit...even if it's only for afternoon tea! ... this hotel is the perfect place to stay if you are on a weekend in dublin. we stayed here a few years ago as a special treat, it was before the place was done up in recent years and the place is just fabulous. its convenient city centre location is perfect if you are in dublin to shop or to paint the town. its expensive, but if you can afford it i would say its my top hotel choice in dublin city centre... Nice Place

I have never stayed in this hotel, only went to a wedding a few years ago. Changed a lot since then decor wise. One of my friends suggested the Horseshoe bar in The Shelbourne for a few pints. A lot of people in suits having an after work drink. I was dressed in jeans so felt a little under dressed. The bar was busy early in the evening, but come 9 the place emptied. Nice bar and staff were great. Pint of Guinness €5.50, not cheap but a good pint. This Hotel is a fantastic expensive... Read more...

Bar staff not the best

I haven't ever stayed in this hotel but have been going to its bars and restaurants for years. When the place was originally refurbished a few years ago it was great for a while afterwards, when the Celtic Tiger was in full swing. However, it's recently gone downhill - the women are completely over dressed and clearly on the pull, the men are trying to impress them by talking about how many acres they have. For a hotel that is the most famous in the country and where so many people go for a... Read more...

A fabulous experience. IT is a simply beautiful hotel, it is so well decorated and special outside and inside. I stayed over here for a night and they really paid attention to the small details- pillows were so soft and bathroom was well stocked with toiletries. The maids are also really cherrful and seem to enjoy their job. The staff are equally great, and the dinner staff are certinaly keeping the hotel's good reputation up high.... Read more...

Fab Hotel

Used to work in the old Shelbourne and have some fond memories. The new reincarnation has been beautifully renovated by the current owners - they've done a brilliant job opening up the staircase. Ther's a good mix of the old with the modern, the Louis le Brocquy above the fireplace being a good example. Once you step through the revolving doors you can feel the oppulence of the hotel. Even if you not staying over its definitely worth popping in to the horsehoe bar or no 27 lounge for a pint.... Read more...

A Renaissance Hotel

I was pleased with my recent wining and dining experience in the Shelbourne's Saddle Room and Horseshoe Bar. It was a comfortable and relaxed affair, much to my surprise, as I'd never really given the Marriott's Dublin gem a second thought as a venue to just stroll into (even with my bulging credit card in tow.) The décor from the outside appears resplendent in an often overwhelming and intimidating way. But when you get over the apparent affluence and opulence of the building (and... Read more...
