You would walk past this particular Starbucks, from the outside it does not look like a coffee house. This Starbucks is my friends local haunt and she is very fond of the place and know the staff by name, she likes their coffee but I do not, tried several times to get to like it but just tastes vile so I usually go for a tea instead, not much better but it is okay. Their cakes are lovely and when we where there last, there was a well stocked display cabinet full of pastries and rolls.... Read more...

hot chocolate

I love this particular Starbucks. This branch overlooks the Grand Canal and Baggot Street Bridge on Mespil Road. Hot chocolate would be my favourite. Not really a fan of their coffee. Not too many seats so a take out would be my usual fare. Never had a problem with staff but then I am usually only there for a few minutes while my hot chocolate is being prepared. I find the range of coffees a little confusing.... Read more...

Terrible coffee

This is an awful coffee shop in a great location. The temptation to run in on the way to work can be overwhelming but I'm always sorry when I do. I don't find the staff as bad as some of the other reviewers do, but they certainly don't kill themselves being charming. My main gripe with this place is the coffee itself - truly foul. If I got coffee like this anywhere else I would actually refuse to pay for it, but it does seem to be fairly consistent awful in most starbucks branches, so maybe... Read more...

I find the staff here very pleasant, but do not get the personal feel of going into Insomnia, and tend to feel that the smiles are related to tip expectations. Perhaps this is unfair, but it always seems to me that they're loaded up on customer service training, and it's of the kind that makes the friendliness a bit bland, or impersonal. As was mentioned in reviews of the Starbucks in Ballsbridge, in the Oval, I do think the tables could be cleared more quickly. There are too many occasions... Read more...

I'm surprised to read the other reviews about this Starbucks having just been in here today. Pleased to see that they were still open at 7.15pm so went in and ordered 2 frappaccinos (brain freeze!) which were promptly made and tasty. Around 7.50 one of the staff came past and informed us they were closing in 10 mins but was nice enough about it! So maybe they've read the bad reviews about the service and done something about it as they were perfectly nice today! So lets hope it continues!... Read more...

Lovely place, staff a bit rude!

Was in Starbucks last night. I loved the building, it was like walking into a starbucks in Boston! After ordering my vanilla latte and a tea for my friend, I was bluntly told by the girl behind the counter that they were closing in twenty five minutes so I would have to take it to go. Displeased at the face that the only reason I went in there was to sit there with my friend for a chat. I got my takeaway coffey and left not leaving a tip! Why didnt she politley say that I could take a seat for... Read more...

Staff matched the weather

(20 October 2009)

Report

The coffee I got here this morning was awful, to the point that I nearly chucked it in the bin. It was a cafe americano and probably the worst I've had. I also think the attitude of the staff matched the weather outside, which was dour. I really cannot understand how starbucks go to so much effort in branding their cafe's and forget about the simple yet most important elements i.e. staff attitude. (and good coffee of course) I have just walked into your cafe on a miserable morning...cheer me... Read more...

Perfectly pleasant

I don't drink coffee or tea so I can never rate coffee shops on the quality of their coffee. Typically I would avoid Starbucks like the plague but having ventured into one his morning with a client I was pleasantly surprised. On a big board above the counter was written "Daily Special - mango and passion fruit Frappacino". Having missed out on breakfast this looked like the perfect kicker for an uncaffeinated start to my day. My client appeared to be a regular as the chap behind... Read more...
