RTE could learn from this channel and try to make some changes to RTE1 . TG4 has lively young presenters-great to see bright, happy fresh young faces making a start to their broadcasting careers. Some of the productions are , in my opinion first class- Ros Na Run (subtitles are great) and in my view programmes such as An Jig Gig are far supoerior to many of the mainstream talent showa. Keep up the good work ,TG4!... Read more...

Self Sufficient.

I have been following Síle Nic Chonaonaigh's programme on TG4 called Garrai Glas for the past two years now and I have enjoyed it very much. It is a programme about growing your own vegatables from scratch with help and tips along the way from various contributors. There is also a section on foraging and making your own foods and drinks from what the hedgerow provides. My own modest vegetable patch is about 10' x 12' and is growing in strength as I tweek it. I don't ever expect to be... Read more...

In my opinion its very hit and miss with Tg4. sometimes you would flick on and there would be the likes of CSI on and then other times, shows in Irish or Irish music. I suppose that is the point of Tg4, but my irish is very lacking. Although there was a great show about men going out buying clothes for a girl they had never ment, sadly cant remember the name. I usually just stay clear of Tg4 unless im in the country with my 6 channels. but for its purpose im sure it serves the irish speaking... Read more...

Excellent historical documentaries
(11 December 2011)
by: P A. 5 out of 5
I love the historical documentaries that they show on TG4. Unlike the historical documentaries on RTE, they are factual and full of information and dont contain any scenes that have nothing to do with the programme, such as scenes of historians standing on a bridge or having their photo taken with a bunch of woman while narrating. I also love the cartoons in the morning and put them on for my daughter. Keep up the good work - I only wish the budget was a bit bigger as they manage to put on a... Read more...

TG4

Brilliant. One of the big success stories in Ireland as far as I'm concerned. They show some excellent programs and are an extremely informative channell. I think they balance the need to cater for the Gaelgoiri, those trying to learn Irish and those who are looking to watch a good program, very well. Their documentaries are top class. For the funding they get, they must be one of the top channels there are. I'm a massive fan ... Read more...

Proud Irish Heritage
(02 December 2011)
by: Sarah B. 5 out of 5
TG4 is Ireland's only Irish-speaking television station and it puts RTE to shame. RTE is state-funded as well as commercially funded and TG4 does not have half the funding, yet still with it's programming it blows RTE out of the water. TG4 has better fact and fiction writers with a wide range of stunning documentaries, movies, tv shows and cartoons. Having worked for them and watched them on TV I am very proud to call this an Irish TV station.... Read more...

Puts RTE to shame!
(27 November 2011)
by: Ruby W. 4 out of 5
TG4 is a Television Studio based in Co, Galway. They offer a great variety of documentaries and soap opera type shows in our own native Irish. They really put RTE to shame with the quality of their homegrown produced shows. Rasai Na Gallimhe was one point of their recent scheduling. TG4 I feel is a very under-rated channel. They often have English speaking shows and films which are subtitled into Irish - so there's something for everyone. Try it out, you may be surprised!... Read more...

Couch Potatoe.

One of my favourite TV shows is "Survivor". The last series ended last week with my favourite contestant winning it named "Fabio". The new series of Survivor begins during this coming week so if you want to get in from the beginning make sure that you tune in to watch it. The problem with television is that you get hooked on a few shows and stay in to watch them. At the beginning of summer this year I said that I was not going to sit on on a nice summers evening watching... Read more...

Irish tv channel
(21 July 2011)

I often use TG4 to listen to a bit of music but mainly to watch the GAA coverage they have. Many of the games they show arent available elsewhere and its great to watch them in Irish as its the only way that I get to hear the language since leaving school. They also have some decent movies on from time to time and they promote our language which sadly just isnt used much... Read more...

This is a great station for those that are great at Irish and actually know what's going on. I turned it on this morning to see Sucbe doo on it, thought it would come up in English but was surprised to see it in Irish. I rally like the way they did this in Irish was really impressed. As I say if you knew a bit of Irish then this channel would be a god send, but for me I have no irish so wouldn't watch it... Read more...

TG4

I really like TG4 as it has a bit of everything for everyone. I watch Ros na Rún, one of the soaps and it's as good if not better that the english ones. If you're into Sport, it often has GAA matches. The range of cartoons for kids in the mornings are really good too. My son loves them. A lot of the programmes have subtitles if your irish isn't the best. A lot of the programmes are also repeated on the TG4 player.... Read more...

I love TG4. It is a great channel if you enjoy a bit of GAA, which I do. You will never be stuck for a film to watch if you have TG4. It is even better for young children. They have a lot of cartoons which are done in the Irish language, such as Spongebob Square Pants. This provides great education for children from an early age. It is a wonderful channel and a great idea.... Read more...
