Trying ,Without Proper Funding - But Poor

(01 May 2012)

Report

Reviewed this station a long time ago.Wrong that RTE gets all the licence fee. TV3 tries hard, but consequences of RTE monopoly and lack of funding in TV3 make for some very annoying characteristics- mainly the very frequent and interminably long ad breaks (clearly, from a practical view, it needs the funding from advertising revenue). Vincent Browne is both an asset and a liability-refreshing quirky approach , but a programme dominated by going over and over the economy ad nauseum (we're... Read more...

We have a few weather forecast watchers in our house. It is quite common to catch all of the various weather forecasts on all of the stations every evening. The weather forecasters have become very good at getting the weather exactly right. I have managed to get the grass cut ahead of the rain based on these forecasts. Exceot for TV3. Looking at everyone's favourite Martin King I find that this forecast is the most unreliable. It is also very annoying to watch Martin constantly forgetting the... Read more...

Miles better then RTE

As a privately owned Television Station that has to fund it's own programming and facilitate the buying of others, this television station is considered the underdog, to the over-funded and over-indulged RTE. TV3 however does very much rely on computer effects, glitzy programming, flash photography and American television. I would like to see more home-grown television on this channel, a little more cerebral then Expose (though I do watch that whenever I can!), but I can understand their... Read more...

Great documentaries

TV3 I'll admit does broadcast a lot of imported TV Shows, however when they produce their own documentaries and shows they're onto a winner! There's a great selection of programmes and movies on offer, I'll normally find something to watch on TV3 on any given evening. It just goes to show what they can produce compared to RTE and remember they're not getting any of the TV licence payers money. They have a good strong cast spread out all of their scheduling including the lovely Daithi o shea and... Read more...

I really like TV3 as it offers a great variety of programming and there is something to suit all age groups. As Irish TV stations go I think it is the best around. They have a lot of the top programmes such as Xfactor, Xpose, Glee and these shows are great for entertainment value. They are not everyone's cup of tea but they also offer chat shows during the day and documentary and other real life shows as well as the major soaps such as emerdale and cornation Street. I like it because it has... Read more...

TV3 has improved hugely over the years and some of the programmes are very good. Their fly on the wall documentaries are excellent. They have good movies on and soaps like Coronation Street and Emmerdale and if you have missed a promgramme on another channel you are more or less guaranteed to see it repeated on TV3. I really enjoyed the documentary series The Tenement, interesting how some people lived. TV3 have a very good online site and if you miss any shows you can watch most of them again... Read more...

This is a fantastic television channel, absoloutly loved by all the family in my house. The children love the morning toons and it keeps them amused. My favourite of course is that it shows Corination street and Emmerdale Farm which is my highlight. They also do reruns the following day if you missed it which is brill. Presenters are lovely and also films they show are great, they show gret mid week movies in the night which are a great hit with my family... Read more...

. It's great to have the large choice of TV channels to watch and give you the variety of switching from either RTE 1 or RTE 2, etc. TV3 have some interesting programmes on. I like Come Dine With Me Ireland, nice to see the Irish side of this programme and I also like to dip into Xpose for the fashion or beauty tips. They also have some good documentaries on various subjects. I enjoyed Celebrity Head Chef with Conrad Gallagher. ... Read more...

I like this channel but might not be my first choice. I like the come dine with me series and the movies they show on the evenings. I have to say though the movies are not the latest ones, sometimes they show really old ones, but again, if you liked a movie 10-15 years ago then you still like it now, so its good to watch it again. Jeremy Kyle show is not exactly the best promo for them though, that show is very bad, I don't know why would you watch something like that, I always flick away when... Read more...

I really like this station it has a good mix. The news is better than RTE and the weather with Martin King is good i like the way he does birthday requests. I'm not a fan of Mark Cagney so i don't like Ireland am. Judge Judy and come dine with me are good programmes I love the attitude of Judge Judy when someone rubs her up the wrong way. Vincent Browne is always worth a watch as he has everything from politics to Jedward on his show. All round it's a good station.... Read more...

The best thing about tv3 is that it is at least some competition for rte who seemed to have the monopoly on irish tv stations. The breakfast show isnt bad - morning am, it has news and fashion slots as well as topical current debates.IT is like a magazine show. There's a fashion show on at 6 in the evening- Expose, it is ok as well, something you'd have on in the background while you are eating your dinner.... I think TV3 is by far the best Irish TV station at the moment. Their variety of programmes is by far superior. Chat shows in the morning may not be to everyone's taste but I enjoy watching segments of the shows such as fashion or cooking. They have the beloved soaps in the evenings and offer a catch up at the weekends. I find other programmes of interest too such as Xpose and the apprentice. ... Read more...
