its a credit really that buildings like this do get saved, get a new lease of life, get used again - this is just about all the positives i have to offer. food standard and poor, deserts straight from a package i felt and prices classic central dublin. hunger forced us to go one busy winter evening and will struggle on in future. only saving grace is knowing there is worse out there, and anywhere reliant on the man on the street with the board slung over him, just like our other friend the spot... Nice place

There always seems to be somebody on Henry St displaying a cardboard image of Church Cafe Bar. I always feel sorry for the person because it must be a really, really boring job, especially in the cold weather. I had never taken any notice of the cafe/bar even though i had passed it before. I suppose their advertising worked because one evening after work i decided to meet a few friends here. Its a cool place and the stonework is very nice. Its been nicely renovated and has a nice atmosphere.... Read more...

I can't comment on the food as I've never eaten here, but as a place to go out for a few drinks I would have no problem in recommending The Church. Ok its not located in the best part of town but its not far to walk. The decor is amazing - with tons of old features and restored stonework. Excellent atmosphere in here at the weekends. It definitely has the best outdoor drinking/smoking area in Dublin , brilliant when there's a bit of decent weather. One of the better additions to the pub scene... Read more...

I've had a sort of good experience and a rubbish one. Unfortunately I think half the places I dislike are because of the staff. The management spends a lot of money doing up a place and then they hire some dope of a bouncer who says "locals only" when he sees tattoos or piercings. What age are we living in? It's the same story in Capital Bar. To it's credit the interior has been done up nicely although both times I've been in there they've played the "Horny Song" which... Read more...

Fancy after work drinks

Its hard to review this place as one as it consists of three parts. So here is a review of them individually: 1. The Bar - This is the ground floor with the outside Beer garden. The whole building is a converted church and the conversion is done impeccably well. It is contrast old wood and originally features such as an organ with ultra modern materials and lighting. The drinks are some of the most expensive in town where you will pay up to 6.20 a pint. There is plenty of seating inside and... Read more...
