The Church
(13 July 2012)

I went in here for lunch one day and ordered a panini. On the menu it said it had 3 fillings so I asked the waitress to leave off one of the fillings as I didn;t like it , she said this was not possible as the chef makes all the paninnis in the morning and they are already made. I thought this was crazy, i have not returned to the church for food since. it is handy to go into for a drink if you are shopping in the area. The interior is nice, it is always quite busy and sometimes it is hard... Read more...

Nice on a sunny day
(26 April 2012)
by: Ian s. 4 out of 5
While I'm one that really likes the interior of this pub - well worth checking out if you haven't been, I love sitting outside in the large beergarden on one of our far to few sunny weekend afternoons. Have never had a problem with the food here - have only ever ordered from the bar menu and its been tasty and hit the spot. Much more a spot I'd tend to frequent in the Summer.... Read more...

worth a try
(20 December 2011)

I have been here on nights out which I have always enjoyed, the staff are mannerly and professional. I have eaten there twice , while I found the food good,I was left waiting for the menu as they seemed to be understaffed or something. its worth a visit , maybe during the week would be a better day to visit ... Bar food disappointing
(22 September 2011)
by: Ann C. 2 out of 5
Love the interior of this place and think its a great place for a drink. Its really unusual inside and very comfy to sit for a break from shopping. However, went for lunch recently and was disappointed. We sat outside on the terrace which is a good idea as there is nowhere like that nearby. The service was terrible. It took ages to get menus, then to order and at lunchtime you don't have the time to spare. The staff were clueless about the menu or the specials available and the food was... Read more...

Food a lot to be desired
(17 September 2011)
by: alexia S. 3 out of 5
This bar and restaurant is located just off one of the main shopping streets in North City centre. As places go it is pretty trendy in appearance and as the name suggests it used to be a church so there are lots of really cool features remaining. It greats pretty busy and sometimes hard to find a seat. They have a nice terraced seating area outside too. I have eaten here a couple of times but honestly the food was never great. I found it greasy cold and over-priced. The offer dishes such as... Read more...

The Church bar/restaurant
(28 July 2011)
by: Caroline A. 2 out of 5
If you're looking for somewhere unusual to eat here's your place. It's literally like a church inside. Some might find this interesting but I thought that it was a little bit weird. It even had those memorial plaques on the walls giving details about people whoi had died. I was looking forward to a lovely lunch but the food wasn't that nice. My sister was with me and she found the same. Wouldn't be going back to be honest.... Read more...

food lets it down
(04 July 2011)
by: lorraine w. 3 out of 5
This has a great city centre location and the building itself is terrific. Gets very busy especially Sundays. In my experience the food is just ok, not wonderful. The last time I ate there my food was cold when served so I was a little disappointed, i've eaten there a few times and never found it brilliant. They offer a bbq on Sunday evenings. I find it a good place for a quiet drink or coffee during the day/early evening. The terrace is great to sit out on a sunny afternoon and people watch. ... Read more...

Cool place for special occasions
(15 June 2011)
by: Heather P. 4 out of 5
Some of my friends and I happened upon The Church a few weeks ago while we were walking around. It looked nice enough, so we decided to stop in for dinner. The place is really well decorated, with (intentionally) mismatched chairs and living room type tables. The bar is big and at the center of the main room. The walls and windows are just like a church still, and there is a balcony and everything! The pub food was moderately priced, and the entrees on the menu were a little bit more... Read more...

Too expensive..
(11 June 2011)
by: Jenny M. 2 out of 5
I found myself in here last week on one of the gloriously sunny afternoons that we had. It was somebody else's suggestion and it does always look lovely so we agreed. As soon as we were at the bar we were regretting it though, five fifty for a pint is a tad excessive these days so I wasn't really surprised that the majority of the customers seemed to be tourists! The food smelled great but again was way over priced and we were not going to fork out for it. There is a nice little history behind... Read more...

Not bad
(16 May 2011)
by: Emer L. 3 out of 5
I have been to the church a few times and would agree that the building itself is stunning - can be very hard to get a seat in it though and the food is nice but not outstanding - I only saw the outside area the last time we were in town and I loved it - It was a really sunny Sunday evening and it was lovely to sit outside with a glass of wine - it felt very cosmopoliton!...
