The above restaurant is excellent

Excellent food. I had the Springbok as main course, never eaten it before, but I would definitely go back for that alone. My girlfriend had the beef an enjoyed it, and our starters were lovely as well. Atmoshpere is a little strange because you are on a balcony above the bar. We went on a friday night, so the bar was full and the place had just the right amount of background noise, but if the bar was empty I don't know what it would be like. Waiters were grand although they took a little long... Read more...

The Church RESTAURANT
(22 June 2010)
by: Susanne O. 5 out of 5
This review is purely of the restaurant in the Church, as I've never been to the club! The food in the Gallery restaurant is some of the best I've ever had anywhere. They currently have a special deal, which is a 4 course menu for 2 people with a bottle of wine for 59 euro, which is amazing value, given the great selection they have on the menu. The fact that the restaurant is in the gallery of the Church, beside the organ and the stained glass windows, just adds to the wonderful-ness (is that... Read more...

A surprise
(20 September 2010)
by: Lucy M. 5 out of 5
I was very surprised when I first visited the Church. A pub in a church? I simply could not believe. I find it a really cool place now, so much space, good atmosphere, a nice area outside. They have a dance club downstairs, which can get pretty busy, but always have been a good spot to spend the night in. And their toilets are great: spotless and very modern, which I believe was worth mentioning. ... Read more...

Cool place for special occasions
(15 June 2011)
by: Heather P. 4 out of 5
Some of my friends and I happened upon The Church a few weeks ago while we were walking around. It looked nice enough, so we decided to stop in for dinner. The place is really well decorated, with (intentionally) mismatched chairs and living room type tables. The bar is big and at the center of the main room. The walls and windows are just like a church still, and there is a balcony and everything! The pub food was moderately priced, and the entrees on the menu were a little bit more... Read more...

very nice looking building. Restaurant upstairs on the balcony overlooking the bar below. Decor is very nice and a good mixture of modern and traditional. Tables are poorly laid out and space is very tight. Also the restaurant is very ......................................................................good... Read more...

Nice on a sunny day
(26 April 2012)
by: Ian s. 4 out of 5
While I'm one that really likes the interior of this pub - well worth checking out if you haven't been, I love sitting outside in the large beergarden on one of our far to few sunny weekend afternoons. Have never had a problem with the food here - have only ever ordered from the bar menu and its been tasty and hit the spot. Much more a spot I'd tend to frequent in the Summer.... Read more...

Great when the sun is out!
(16 April 2011)
by: Jane M. 4 out of 5
I've always been a big fan of this place. The central location, large outdoor space and decent food menu make it a popular choice. I prefer the outdoor area to inside. I love people watching and if the weather is good, there is nothing better than grabbing an outdoor table and having a few sneaky drinks. The table service can be painfully slow at times but the bar is not far enough away to cause an upset! I was fairly put out that they refused to let us in on St Patrick's day because we had a... The Church
(23 January 2011)
by: BB N. 4 out of 5
This is a good opub as it is very conveniently located on Mary Street which is at the bottom of Henry Street. So whenever i am shopping on Henry St i tend to pop in here for a coffee or a bite to eat. They serve food in the main bar but they also have a restaurant upstairs which i have never tried. it is a big place and the decor is lovely service is always good too. They do nice wraps and chips.... Read more...
