DIT Students
(18 July 2011)
by: lorraine w. 3 out of 5
As DIT cathal brugha street doesn't have a student bar this is where we would end up after a night in the kitchens. The place offered comfy couches and a rest for out aching feet. There was always decent drinks promotions which suited our student pockets and big screens for the lads to enjoy the football. The atmosphere was always good in the place and the staff nice too. Would definately say its clientele are mainly students. Cathal Brugha is a quiet street with no other bars so this place is... Read more...

Nice place to have few drinks with friends and watch a bit of football..
(13 May 2011)
by: Inga B. 5 out of 5
It have a nice atmosphere to chill and have a drink or two before going out to the club, and i like the smoking area at the back with the music box, where you put in coins and choose a song, the only thing - the music list could be more up to date. Then the heating is always on so if you sit outside at the table you would never feel cold..... Read more...

Cheap and cheerful.
(17 April 2011)
by: Jenny M. 3 out of 5
It has been many years since I was in The Living Room before last night. I had always liked it but it has been totally renovated since I was last there. We got there fairly early in the day and were sitting in the smoking area, a huge space out the back, some areas with a roof and others without so as soon as it got cold we moved under a heater. The pitchers were cheap and cheerful and the long island ice tea was lovely and only cost 8 euro! The place was packed by the end of the night and... Read more...

Only good for daytime sporting fixtures
(02 February 2011)
by: Angie R. 3 out of 5
This big bar off O’Connell Street is a great place to watch a football or rugby match. It has giant screens and you can call ahead to reserve tables for yourself and your friends. It’s usually full of Spanish speakers, who seem to have adopted this as one of their favourite Dublin hangouts. It also tends to get a good Chinese crowd and the rest is a mix of Irish and tourists. It’ll never be among my first choices for a night out, but I would come here with friends during the... Read more...

Feel like a student again :)
(10 January 2011)
by: LouLou . 4 out of 5
This is the perfect student bar, good, cheap food and drink (especially the drink!) they definitely cater to the students needs with their pitchers of everything even cocktails for around 10-15 euro. The atmosphere is always relaxed inside and out, the smoking area at the back of the pub is great, set out with plenty of chairs and tables, and most importantly large plasma tv's, hence there tends to be more people outside than indoors so for a bit of craic and a laugh id definitely recommend the... Got a nasty feel to it..
(14 December 2010)
by: David K. 2 out of 5
I've been to this place a few times, solely to watch football as they tend to cater for the less popular matches televised on foreign channels. This is a good thing as most places don't subscribe to an out and out sports televising approach. This is about as good as it gets to be honest and I've never really liked the feel to this place, and it's populated usually with unsavoury types. I can't say I've ever experienced trouble in here but it does have quite an unfriendly vibe to it. This is... Read more...

Recession beating prices
(15 October 2010)

You can get a pitcher of their beer of the week for 10 euro. Pitchers usualy give you 3 pints which makes it very cheap! The staff in here are very friendly. This is a great sports pub aswell. Every wall has a tv screen with a different match on each of them!! The smoking area outside is the wamest you will ever find. They also have a great food menu and all the food on it is great!!... cheap drink in the centre of town
(04 June 2010)
by: kaz f. 3 out of 5
I have been here two or three times overall. Each time i have had the same experience, the place is grand. Like Erin I would always sit outside cus the atmosphere is better and not dreary as it can be inside. They do pitchers of fosters and they have good nibbles if ur hungry. The toilets are a bit mank and i would say that each time i have been there that there have been a few "dodgy" punters hahah! Its not a place I would chose to go to but if someone wanted to meet there i... Read more...

Good atmosphere.
(26 April 2010)
by: Erin F. 3 out of 5
I've been here a few times and twice it was when it was after nine in the evening. The one time I was here before nine, it was pretty dead inside and I was with only a few other people. So it's better to go in a larger group. The seating is very comfortable but I prefer to sit outside in the smoking area despite being a non-smoker. The atmosphere outside is more relaxing and it's probably the warmest smoking area I've been in. Inside the music is blared far too loudly so it's not the ideal... Read more...

The oddly named
(14 February 2010)
by: Cathal C. 4 out of 5
The Living Room on Cathal Brugha St has a very eclectic mix of clientele. There's often a few slightly rough looking locals (though I've never seen the slightest bit of trouble there). There's often a table or two of Chinese people - The Living Room is located quite close to the closest thing that we have to a China Town. And of course, across the road as it is from Cathal Brugha St DIT, there are always plenty of students there, skipping their lectures and getting sozzled in the middle of the... Read more...
