Grand littel pub

(22 March 2012)

Report

by: Oisin L. 4 out of 5

This is a grand little pub. They serve one of the best pints of Guinness in Dublin as far as I can tell. It is a traditional Irish style pub and the tourists should love it, quaint decor with terrible carpeting and toilets that are smaller than closets but these are all part and parcel of proper Irish pubs. It is well worth a trip, in a great location, good prices and the staff are friendly. I'll be back here again and looking forward to it. Featured in the video for "Old Town" by... Read more...

Wedged

(11 December 2011)

Report

by: P A. 4 out of 5

I was here on Friday after work and it was absolutely wedged - you wouldn't have known there was a recession on. There was standing room only, and although tired it has been so long that I've been a pub so busy that I was pleased to see it. There was a real buzz in the air! Mostly full of an after work crowd - I reckon that being so close to Christmas as lot of them were there for pre-Christmas party drinks. I will be back - the pint was good.... Read more...

A good old fashioned pub

(15 November 2011)

Report

by: paul n. 4 out of 5

The Long Hall Pub located in Georges street is what real Irish pubs should be and its a pity there are not alot of them left. The pub is narrow but that is part of its charm. The staff are friendly and try to make everyone feel welcome. The price of the pint is the same as in most parts of Dublin. This is the place to go to get a feel for what an real pub is and not one of those modern ones with music so loud that you cannot hear anyone talking. go and enjoy a very nice pint.... Read more...

l was here recenly after many years and was glad to see that little has changed. lts still as it was with the old items of furniture and lights. lt is one of the oldest pubs in Dublin l would think. lt you want to avoid the newish hotel type bars then this is this is the place to go. lt serves a lovely pint of guinness, almost a meal in itself. lt would be an ideal pub for tourists to venture in to. They will get a taste of real lrish right in the heart of Dublin.... Read more...

real irish pub

i was recommended to come here when i came to dublin.Superb hostelry, far enough away from Temple Bar to dissuade the Hen and Stag parties. Busy in the evenings so get in early. Other times it's nice and quiet and just right to have the craic with the locals or read the paper.this would be a great example of a real irish pub. One of the best pints in Dublin as well and no blaring, piped music. Not to be missed by pub aficionados.... Read more...

love it

I actually really love this pub. It is very traditional, without being cheesy or full of fake oldness that you find in Temple Bar. You can still go here with your newspaper in the afternoon on the weekend. Saturday nights it can get abit crowded but it adds to the atmosphere.Really ornate interior with a lot of character, good pints and if you get a window spot, great for people watching too. ... Great Pub

(21 July 2011)

Went to the Long Hall with friends last week and the best description my friend said was it is like your local but in the center of town. The atmosphere is always very good and the staff are friendly. Every time I go I truly have a great time. People who drink in the Long Hall are nice and there is never one bit of trouble. The pints are so good in here too which is hard to find a good pint in the center of town... Read more...

Proper Dublin Pub

(18 May 2011)

Report

by: T. M. 5 out of 5

I've often brought friends from abroad to the Long Hall as a good example of a 'proper' Dublin pub, but imagine my surprise when a friend and fellow Dub told me he had never been in it! We soon rectified that, on a quiet midweek evening. It was early in the evening as well as the week so not as packed as it can be, though it meant we could sit at the bar (and the toilets were more easily accessible). The pint was as good as ever and my friend loved the charm and relaxed vibe of the place. ... Read more...

Proper Irish Pub

I love the craic and the conversation in this pub it really is a gem of a place. Like some of the other reviewers I like to bring my international friends here to show them what a real Irish pub is like. We had many's the good night here. Loving the retro vibe and the long wooden counters. The staff are sound and up for the bit of banter. It is well worth a visit and when you're there stay for the pints.... Read more...

one of my favorite Dublin pubs so i hope they never change their winning formula.i like to bring non Irish friends here to show them what a traditional Irish pub is like and not what a lot of them end up seeing while holidaying here.love it for a chilled out drink on a Sunday afternoon but prefer it more as a winter pub than summer.great Guinness too!can sometimes look a bit dingy during the cold light of day but thats probably half the appeal for a lot of people.... The Long Hall was packed when we arrived at the weekend but we managed to wedge ourselves in among the other drinkers. Hadn’t been here in ages. A traditional Irish pub loaded with memorabilia hanging from the walls and lovely plasterwork ceilings, traditional mahogany bar and Victorian lighting. Lots of foreign tourists enjoying the Guinness, all loving the place, it is one of many traditional pubs that is on the tourist list of pubs to see in Dublin. Guinness is good and there is a good... Keep an eye out for the clocks!

This is one of my favourite pubs in Dublin 2, along with The Palace in Fleet Street. There's nothing particularly amazing about it but the decor is as it should be in a traditional Irish pub and they have a super old clock collection lining the walls. This is one of the first pubs I direct tourists to when they're looking for an authentic experience. It's also one of the best city centre pubs for a pint of guinness. Only criticism is that the staff are sometimes a little surly, but sure that... Read more...
