nice atmosphere

I have met my friend in this bar a few times after work. Nice atmosphere. Nice food if a little limited in what you can have. Service is always fast and I enjoy a bite to eat and a few drinks on Friday evenings before or after shopping in the centre. winters smoking area

went here on sunday for a drink before the cinema. first time having a drink in there as usually i just get a coffee. the wine was nice and only about four euro, good atmosphere for a sunday night although mostly filled with an older crowd. I really appreciate the heated smoking area and i could sit there all evening having a gawk around. only problem was that they were airing american football on the tv which i found a tad random... I have been to Winters a few times. The first time I thought it was great. Nice wood and very comfortable chairs. I have there early evening and nearly always had a good mixed crowd. I have had their food, burger and chips, it was edible and their prices not bad. It is wheelchair accessible and they are very attentive to customers in wheelchairs and make sure they are well looked after. I was out for a night out with my wife and we decided to go in here for a meal and a drink. The place was packed as it was a Friday night. We got a table and sat down. 10 mins later we got a menu, we had to go looking for a waitress after half an hour to give in our order. Once the order was placed the food was brought down to us really quickly. We both got steaks and they were lovely and well worth the hassle of trying to order, don't think I'd go back bit over priced and service was terrible... Read more...

Trickery or what?

I was invited for a meal here by someone who had availed of a meal offer from one of the new daily deal type places that are springing up all over the place. The deal was for a main courses, a glass of wine and a cup of coffee for two for €23. When we visited on a quiet late afternoon and took our seats nobody came near us to offer any type of service. only ever been here for post cinema drinks which did the job but not somewhere i would come to otherwise.very packed and a bit soulless in my opinion.did not eat there but food looked fine.typical pub grub.in my opinion you would be better going for a bite to eat and have a drink with dinner in either mao or milanos accross the way where there is a better atmosphere.i dont think this seems to be the type of place people come to stay for the evening so that may be the reason.... Okay for a quick drink

This bar is ideally situated down the end of Dundrum shopping centre where the restuarants and cinema are. Its a okay place to go for a drink after a mid afternoon trip to the cinema. There is a nice smoking area but it gets packed very quickly. In the evenings the pub tends to get very busy and you could be waiting a good while to get the bartenders attention. Not a pleasant place

I've been to winter's twice and didnt particularly like it either time. I think its way too cramped and over cluttered inside and its also very dark which i didnt like. The drinks are very pricey and so is the food for what is basically glorified pub grub. The staff were friendly enough however service, even when it was quiet, was slow. I was in Dundrum recently and at a loss for somewhere to go with a friend for quiet pint outside so she could smoke. Winters have a nice seating area outside on road frontage which is well protected, although an outside TV would be nice. The Guinness was very good as was the service. Inside looked pretty full for a Wed evening, but then again Man U were playing. The bar covers as both a food and caters for pub grub in their boot style seating. I generally ignored this place before but it's actually quite nice. The drinks are reasonably priced and they have quite a nice outdoor smoking area, but it's just along the road. It's dimly lit and has loads of little booths. It's usually pretty busy and understaffed though, and it took ages for us to get served. Avoid Winters for football matches - it's a rugby pub and nothing else. Then again, if you're the kind of person who likes to watch a match in peace, Winters could be ideal, but the screens are not set up to accommodate a large number of people watching a game, and the actual floor space is so small that it's awkward to stand watching a screen too.
