I dropped in here today to pick up some last minute Christmas plants and couldn't believe my eyes. They were having a 70% off sale of all Christmas decorations and this is 3 days before Christmas. The shelves were empty. There were people grabbing at the display items including one man who was purchasing some Christmas tree lights that were on display. As the stuff was being sold the staff were filling the empty displays with household products and DIY items. I also notice that they had their... Read more...

Poinsettia for Christmas.

Every year we like to purchase a number of Poinsettia plants for the house for Christmas. In the past and for about €30 you could buy about 7 plants and enjoy their lovely red leaves decorating the house and adding to the festive occasion. I notice that this year they were priced at €6.99 in Woodies but in the standard plastic containers. They were €7.99 in Dunnes Stores Cornelscourt but you got the little red china bowl to accompany them for that price. In Woodies the red bowl... Read more...

Christmas arriving early.

We headed up here during the week as this is the time to pick up a lot of interesting plants that are on special offer as they come to the end of the season. We picked up several items that a few months back were retailing at €8 or so and we got them reduced to €1.99. These can be stored over winter in our garage and next year we can revive them and get a plant as good as new. We noticed that they had already started displaying their Christmas products and it was hard to believe that... Read more...

my favourite and local

This Woodies is my favourite one to go to and very local. They have a great car park to the front, always lots of spaces and you can usually get near enough to the door which is handy for carrying things to your car boot. They have trolleys to put all your purchases in. There are sometimes lots of people queuing and this is the only problem with this place. They have a wide range pf products for the gardener and garden. Lots of plants, lawnmowers, briquettes, seed etc. There is a very good party... Read more...

Woodies is a good Irish owned DIY and garden centre. This is a large well stocked store. Good for garden products and a good party zone area. They have a good section at the back for pet products. I got a little cute rabbit at the weekend and needed a proper house for her and wen to Woodies to get a rabbit hutch. They have a few different sizes and looked good quality and well made, and reasonably priced. They have cat and dog food as well. ... Read more...

I have have no hesitation in suggesting this Woodies store to my colleagues/friends to go to this Woodies store, the staff there are always very helpful... I've received plenty of advice about gardeing, etc.. and the staff out in the garden centre were in no rush to brush you off - some other Woodies, I have not experienced this friendly, helpful attitude... Always use this store now over any other Woodies nearby! The store is smaller than other stores... I have been fortunate enough that I... Read more...

We bought some nice flower planters in a sale recently at a great price. However this is only half of what is needed. We needed flowers. So off up to Woodies in Sandyford. We were lucky as "Sales" are taking place in practically every shop at the moment. Here there was a reduction today of 20%. We parked our car carefully in a quiet part of the car park and in we went. We picked up seven or so small plants that seemed good value and made our way to the cash tills. The queues were... Read more...

We planted the potatoes in two places in the garden. Now, with potatoes you have to make sure that you keep the tubers covered. Letting light get to them is a no no. If your potatoes are green, they are poisonous. So never eat green potatoes. Anyhow because our potatoes are sprouting so fast you have to keep piling soil on top of them. The problem is we don't have enough of spare soil in the garden to keep them topped up. So off to Woodies in Sandyford to purchase a few bags of Topsoil. They... Read more...

I have visited this store three times during the past 7 days or so. Mostly to do with gardening and gardening products. They have a great selection of everything that you need. I bought some netting to keep the birds away from my newly purchased fruit bushes that I picked up in Aldi very cheaply. I also stocked up with chicken poo to use as a fertiliser as well as some garden manure and moss peat etc. However there is a problem with this place and I don't know whether it is to do with... This is one of the earlier Woodie stores located in the Stillorgan Industrial Estate about 200 yds from the LUAS stop. It has a huge car park to the front and parking here is free. I like this store. It carries a huge range of paints, building products, lighting, furniture in fact almost everything that you need for the home. There is a great garden centre where you can pick up all your flowers, plants, bulbs as well as compost, woodchippings etc. At the moment it is full of Christmas... Read more...

What amazes me in the difference between DIY stores here and in the States is the willingness of staff in the States to want to help you and the reluntance of staff here to give a shite. Don't get me wrong, the staff here are not rude or unfriendly; they are not anything. I'll give you an example. I was standing in an aisle looking for something to bring my roses back to life. I stood there for about 15 minutes looking at all the options. Two staff passed me on both occassions, never asking me... Read more...
