Reviews

4. Who can see me and my reviews?

Your public profile and your reviews can be seen by anyone that looks. We think it's more fun that way but more importantly it helps you find other like-minded reviewers in your area. It also instills a greater sense of trust amongst the community as browsers can view the profile of the reviewer.

5. Can a business owner contact me after I review their business?

A business can respond to you privately via their business dashboard. We think that a business should be able to respond to a review of their business but more importantly for them to engage with you, their customer, and to let you know that they're interested and listening to what you have to say.

6. What is considered a great review?

We consider a great review one which has been written with thought and insight, and which provides useful tips and details that will let your fellow reviewers get a good sense for the type of place you're reviewing. It is always useful to mention little tips and descriptions that can come in useful for fellow reviewers for e.g. any special offers you availed of or that the chicken wings are the best starter to go for.

7. What can I write in my reviews?

That's entirely up to you... we do have a few Do's and Don'ts that we would like you to bear in mind when rating a place but other than that, we would encourage you to inclu de any details in your review that you think might be useful to other ‘raters'.

Do...

  • share your knowledge and insight
  • try to write more than 4 lines
  • make sure its your own experience you write about
  • keep it honest and stick to the point
  • don't be afraid to be amusing but keep it polite!

Don't...

  • rant when you're in a bad mood!
  • go name-calling;
  • make something up (... no matter how funny you think it is!);
  • threaten anyone;
  • use offensive language
  • be boring....

We would also suggest that you read our Terms & Conditions, which outline certain requirements in relation to posted content.

8. Does WhoseView.com delete reviews?

No. That said, in some special cases a member of the team may remove a review (this usually only occurs if someone has breached our Terms & Conditions). We will always email the reviewer in question to let them know this has been done and explain our reasons for doing so.

9. Can I delete a review or change a review after it's posted?

You can edit and delete an existing review. You can edit by clicking on the "reviews" link in your members dashboard. Note that this link will only be visible to authors of reviews.

10. What is a Hall of Fame review?

Have you experienced a product or service that is simply exceptional? Is it a Hall of Famer? If so, a member may submit a product or service that they have reviewed to the Hall of Fame. All submissions for the Hall of Fame go onto a list for moderation by the administrator.

In order to be eligible for Hall of Fame status, a service or product must have a minimum of 10 reviews and a rave score of 4.0/5 or greater. The review by member must also be well written and useful to members.

A business or product with a Hall of Fame status receives a Golden "R". If the score drops below 4.0, the service or product is automatically removed from Hall of Fame. To gain entry again it must be nominated again by a user.

11. How do I make sure my reviews show up in Facebook or Twitter?

After you have posted your review, simply go to your review on whoseview, click on the "read more" link where you will be brought to the individual review page. Hoover over "bookmark" icon or click. This will show up both Facebook and Twitter links as well as many more. Simply click on the link link and follow the steps.

12. What if I see an offensive review and I want to report it?

Please click on the link "report", which you will see with each review.

As a member you can vote on another members trust factor. When doing so, please take into account the totally of all their reviews, the review content, and the overall level of activity of a member.

Points can be exchanged against exclusive discounts, WhoseView.ie has arranged on behalf of their members (subject to t&c's).

On the right navigation of your member dashboard, you will see your total accumulated points.

On the offer listing page, every offer has a value from free to 20,000 points. This will be noted under the image on offering listing page. Let's look at an example;

Shelia has accumulated 1500 points from her actions outlined in point 32 above. She likes an offer on the site, whereby her local beautician is giving members of whoseview.ie an exclusive €40 discount off highlights, worth 1500 points. Shelia goes to the offer page, clicks on the "avail of offer" button, where she will be brought to page prompting her to print the voucher. Her voucher will be customised and include her name. Shelia's points are now deducted automatically.

Please note that points accumulated through the abuse of our points system cannot be used in exchange for special offers e.g. recommending the same offer to a friend multiple times, sending multiple invitations to the same person, writing repetitive reviews or comments. Please see full list of terms & conditions on our voucher pages. These t&c's need to be adhered to if you wish to receive vouchers. Points exchanged for vouchers, where t&c's are not adhered cannot be reinstated and vouchers cannot be delivered.

36. Why are some offers free?

Offers noted as free are offers that businesses may advertise elsewhere and are not necessarily exclusive to WhoseView.com.

37. What happens if I don't have enough points?

If you try and avail of an offer, when the points required for the offer exceeds your total, you will be unable to click on the "avail of this offer" button. We suggest you carry out more actions as outlined on point 32 above to reach the required points level.

38. Is there any connection between offers and business rankings and reviews?

Absolutely not. We have made it clear from the start that any business can advertise on WhoseView.com regardless of their ranking or review contents. If a business is not happy with the contents of member's reviews, they are under no obligation to continue advertising on the site.

Privacy

39. What does whoseview.com do with my personal info?

We take your privacy very seriously and we hate spam as much as you do. We only display a limited and very controlled amount of personal information so that other users of the website are able to evaluate or relate to a particular review or reviewer (e.g. see the left navigation of the member dashboard). If you receive spam messages from another member, or if you receive a message that is harassing, abusive, or contains a violation of our Terms & Conditions, please email info@whoseview.com. You can read all about it in our Privacy Policy statement.

40. Can other people see where I live?

No. We only let people know what area you are from, not where you live.

41. How do I add someone as a friend?

To add someone as a friend, go to their personal profile page and click on the ‘Add as a Friend' button on the left navigation. If you want to search for other people to add to your friends list, you can do so by using the people search page.

42. Can I see who has added me as a friend?

Yes, when someone adds you as a friend you are sent a notification email to tell you that this has just happened. The email will also have a link to the profile page of the person that has just added you as a friend, giving you the opportunity to add them to your friends list too (if you choose!)

43. How can I find others in my area?

By simply typing the name of your area into the search box on the people search page, you‘ll be able to find all the rant n ravers in your area. Of course you don't always need to add them as a friend. That said, it‘s a great way to find out where other locals go and why!

44. Do I have to know someone to add them to my friends list?

Not at all, usually people end up as friends on WhoseView.com because they have similar tastes or like the way someone puts a review together! It is a sign of a mutual appreciation of another rant and raver's reviews and content that you become friends.

45. Someone I don‘t know added me as their friend... what is that about?

Yes, it happens all the time; they‘re probably just a big fan of your reviews and want to make it as easy as possible to find you again. Remember, there‘s no obligation for you to add them as your friend (unless you want to of course!)

Guides

46. What are Guides?

The member can compile a list of their own reviews called a guide. Examples of guides could be "My Favourite Restaurants in Dublin", or "Great Places to Drink Coffee in Galway." Each guide would be made up of a number of the member's reviews. A member can add a review to more than one guide, so their review of a restaurant might be in both their "My Favourite Restaurants" guide and in their "Perfect Pizza" guide.

47. Where are Guides Displayed?

The full details of a guide, and its comments, are displayed in a Guide Page. Guides compiled by a member are listed in the My Guides Module of their Member Dashboard. Top guides will be featured on the RRR Main Home Page. If a review of business is in a guide, the Business Profile page will display a list of the guides that it features in. Also on the Category Homepage, categories that it is eligible for are based on the categories of the reviews. Lists of guides can be sorted by date. Other members can leave a comment on a user's guide.

Newsletters

48. How do I subscribe to your eNewsletter?

Members can opt-in to newsletter subscriptions at registration. They can unsubscribe from each individual mailing list at any time from their preferences in their Member Dashboard. Equally, they can sign up for additional newsletters at any point later on via preferences.
