People forget about Gruel despite it being a fantastic place to eat. It's been around for 9 years and I still know lots of people who haven't been there. Why? Amazing food and fabulous staff (they can be a bit moody, but shake it off, the food is worth it) The menus is nothing fancy instead preferring to make simple dishes like macaroni and cheese, croque monsieur sandwiches and roast chicken and potatoes. This kind of food is comforting and familiar to most Irish palates. When it comes to the vegetarian options, the restaurant goes more exotic, sampling from Middle Eastern cuisine.The service and the decor are basic and they don't take reservations, If the place is busy, you wait by the counter until space frees up. Because the restaurant is quite small, you're squeezed in but the atmosphere is cozy and casual.
Joanna would recommend. Joanna would use again.
