Nuneaton Patios

A Good Summer Starts Outside

When the sun finally shows up, you want to be ready. A decent patio makes the difference between actually using your garden and just looking at it through the kitchen window. We’ve been laying patios across Nuneaton and the surrounding area long enough to know exactly what works here.

A lot of the homes we work on are Warwickshire red brick terraces and 1990s Barratt-style estate houses. Gardens tend to be compact, the ground can be soft in patches, and drainage matters more than people realise. We factor all of that in before a single slab goes down.

What We Work With

We’re not a one-material outfit. The choices we use most regularly include:

  • Porcelain tiles, low-maintenance and sharp-looking
  • Indian sandstone, including kandla grey sandstone calibrated 22mm, which beds beautifully on a decent sub-base
  • Concrete flagstones for straightforward, solid results
  • Artificial grass and natural turf for lawn areas
  • New walling and timber fencing to finish the job properly

How a Typical Installation Week Goes

People often ask what actually happens once we start. Here’s the honest version:

  1. Excavation. We dig out to the right depth. Simple enough.
  2. Sub-base. Compacted MOT Type 1 hardcore. This is what stops the whole thing moving in five years.
  3. Bedding. Sand and cement mix, levelled carefully across the area.
  4. Laying. Slabs go down to falls that take water away from the house.
  5. Jointing. Brush-in or wet-point mortar depending on the material. (Porcelain needs a different approach to sandstone and most people don’t know that until it cracks.)
  6. Cleaning. We leave the site tidy. Every time.
