Daventry Patios

Patio and garden installations across Daventry and the surrounding area

Pulled up a customer’s old concrete slabs last spring. Underneath, solid clay, sloping badly toward the house. Classic Northamptonshire garden, that.

Right, that job is exactly why I do what I do. Most of Daventry’s gardens sit on heavy clay subsoil, and if your drainage and base preparation are not done properly from the start, you will have a sunken, cracked patio inside two winters. We bed everything on a properly mixed 4:1 sharp sand cement bedding mortar, with a full compacted sub-base underneath. No shortcuts.

What we do

  • Porcelain tiled patio installations
  • Indian sandstone and limestone slab laying
  • Garden paths and paving
  • Concrete flagstone installations
  • New walling and raised edging
  • Timber fencing, panel and close-board
  • Artificial grass and turfed lawns

We cover Daventry and the surrounding villages, and we have worked on gardens from the NN11 and NN6 postcodes right out toward the Ryton Pools country park area.

So if you have been thinking about laying it yourself, stop and think twice on a sloping or clay-heavy plot. The problem is not the surface material, it is everything underneath it. Clay shifts. It holds water. A poorly graded sub-base means water pools against your foundations or runs back toward the house, and sure it’ll look grand for a year, then the whole lot lifts. DIY on that kind of ground without the right compaction equipment and drainage planning is, honestly, a bad idea.

We work with porcelain, sandstone and limestone, and each material has its own bedding requirements. Porcelain in particular needs a solid, near-perfect base or it will crack at the grout lines. We know what each job needs before we start.

Our work speaks for itself. Come and have a look at what we have done locally.
