Old stone versus modern porcelain

A lot of customers come to us wanting that classic York-stone look. Chunky. Warm. Familiar. We can replace tired flagstones with fresh concrete or sandstone and it looks the part. However, vitrified porcelain has genuinely changed what’s possible. Tighter joints, near-zero water absorption, and it stays looking sharp after a Warwickshire winter.

Slip resistance and surface finish

This comes up more than people expect. We specify a flame-textured granite anti-slip finish on steps and raised areas where wet conditions are a concern. It’s a small detail (most contractors skip the conversation entirely) but it matters when you’re carrying a tray of drinks across a wet patio in October.
